Scott Van Pelt is on ESPN live right now telling us that he understands people do not want to hear politics and the overwhelming majority didn't want him to discuss politics but here is the dose of politics because he "has to"

I mean just what

Remarkable stuff they are pumping out these days.

You would think people would learn but I guess not seeing as Skip Bayless and Steven A. Smith both have solid 8 figure net worths.

He “has to”??

Didn’t ESPN just send a memo to its employees telling them to leave politics out of sports?

Didn’t take long for the producers of the shows to forget the memo.

Exactly. The President of the US called players participating in a peaceful protest "sons of bitches" and called for them to be fired, which was met by a response from the players, coaches, and owners unlike anything we've seen before, and people expect ESPN to not talk about it

I mean at this point it's impossible not to address on some level.

The president of the country is in a very public and ugly feud with not one but two professional sports leagues. It's an unprecedented situation, and its a big deal.

I'm pretty sure "immediately turn it off" isn't one of ESPN's goals.

At this point its been proven that people are tuning out because of the political bs. Look at how worked up people are on this board and that is the sentiments of many sports fans. Creating controversy or staying in the news can be good for ratings, but not in this way. It's the equivalent of saying Watergate was good for Richard Nixon because it was always being talked about.

So is SVP hated now? Just trying to follow the outrage.

So far I have:
The NFL
Jerry Jones
ESPN
Popovich
SVP(?)
Mark Cuban (I think?)
Kaep
Lebron
Warriors
Jemele Hill

Feel like I’m missing a few.

Every single ESPN personality has used this excuse. "Well the players are doing it so we have to talk about it." No you fricking don't. Talk about the actual shite that goes on during the games.

He's just spreading the words/message. You don't watch ESPN anymore. But his message might get the next person to quit also.
