It's easy to say that years after the fact, when you know what happened. When you stumble upon something shocking that you are not expecting in a billion years to see its not so easy. Maybe he should have yelled or tired to break it up, but attitudes like yours and many others toward McQuerry are a good way to get people to not report stuff like that at all. All the down votes and emotional responses to this will not change that fact.
Plus it was 2001 right?
How old was he?
I am 40 now with a son. 40 year old me would have made a dead run across that shower and beat the frick out of him until I could not swing my arms anymore. And no way would I have left the child with him. Even if my presence had stopped the rape.
But in your 20's. With no kid? A pee-on GA at PSU confronting Sandusky who was a semi-legend there. Who knows what Sandusky told him. I am sure he was scrambling.
As fricked up as PSU was apparently McQuery may have ended up in cuffs for beating the shite out of an old man in a he said he said situation.
Shitload of lives ruined by that sick frick. McQuery is just collateral damage. His only hope is to write a book in a few years.

couldn't even imagine. You've spent years and years with somebody and know them well. And then you walk by and see him in the shower at the school molesting a boy. I couldn't even imagine how shocking that would be.
I would probably question if I'm seeing what I'm seeing.
And this makes me question what the guy actually saw in the shower. I can't believe he actually saw a man penetrating a 10 year old child from behind & did absolutely nothing.
Maybe he saw Sandusky & the boy, thought it was obviously creepy/ inappropriate ,but exaggerated what he actually saw.
Penetration/groaning & 'slapping sounds just sounds too disgusting for an adult man to just walk away.
Maybe he always suspected Sandusky to be a pervert & wanted him out of the program by exaggerating.
I don't remember if this kid(if they found him) confirmed any sexual act?

FWIW, there was a recent report that might shed even more light on teh MM reaction. He told some people that he had been abused as a child himself.
LINK
What has not come out is whether or not Sandusky was the guy who abused him. In any case it ironically might call MM's testimony into question. It would be hard for me to wrap my mind around walking in on an old man raping a child (let alone one of the most revered men you've ever known)... but if you add to that scenario that you have terrible memories of your own abuse I'm not sure how the heck your brain would handle that kind of overload.
To read it in black and white where there's no doubt about what's going on is one thing - if you look at how these things play out in the real world denial is the rule - I guess because people just don't want to believe something that terrible could possibly be going on right in front of them.

That's easy to say a thousand miles away and without the context of growing up in the same neighborhood as the guy and being coached by him.
The dude went into shock and reacted in the only way he knew how to.
JoePa, on the other hand, aided and abetted Sandusky.

Exactly. Sandusky was running around in public with children who were not his own. People (including his wife and certainly Jo Pa based on information he received) had to see enough to have serious concerns. They failed to act. The administration failed to act.
Blaming MM for not doing enough is fine from the armchair quarterback position but pretty dishonest. He actually reported the incident. Even though he probably thought it put him at risk and even though he himself may have been a victim of the same abuse.
The people who were most responsible for this atrocity were the ones in authority who failed to act when they received direct warning of what was going on. Blaming some nobody like a janitor or a graduate assistant (when the guy in question is an authority figure, a hero, and a pillar of society) completely misses the point.

Which raises the question, how many here would tolerate that act for 3 million?

No way her husband did that for years and she didn't know.

But there was a false narrative formed that "pitch fork" week against Paterno and PSU that stuck...and still persists to this day...assumptions and lies were told and those have never been revisited or re-examined. The false narrative became fact to sheeple dopes...like some of you on here.
Lol

In order to live with him all these years and still be able to sleep at night, she must possess a great capacity for delusion. It's really, really hard for most people to accept that someone who you are that closed to is a monster. You remember that when Jim Boeheim held his first press conference after the Bernie Fine tapes were released, he struggled to get through it without breaking down, but before the tapes were released, he just laughed it all off, and even cracked jokes about Fine's accusers.

Poor woman is not in touch with reality.
She needs to follow the lead of Bernie Madoff's wife..."he longer exists to me".

I'm catching that vibe myself. 3 million, some here would do it for 300 dollars.
