hes far from being your prototypical prostyle qb.

he was more accurate, but its not like Stafford was inaccurate. and MS does have a strong arm

he could have been and he still could be. IMO Stafford still goes #1, maybe Bradford is with the Jets and Sanchez is locking up the Heisman.

Sam Bradford is an idiot and i am tired of sports analyst asking, "don't you feel sorry for sam bradford?" If you are a top five pick in the nfl draft, you leave school early!!! And don't give me the argument that he could still come back next year...that would be his second year of making 6 or 7 million... didn't leinart's **** arse show how dumb of an idea is so stay when you are going to be drafted that high? He lost at least 25 million from that....

No he did not. They do not get paid $25M/per year. He just got his money a year later.

Leinart was the 10th pick (Had the Saints not signed Drew Brees, or the Texans taken Vince Young he goes in the top 3) He signed a 6 year $51M contract and got $14M in guaranteed money.

LINK

The year before Alex Smith, the #1 pick got signed a 6 year $49.5 M and got $24M guaranteed.

That's a difference of $10M in guaranteed $, but that doesn't necessarily mean ML will earn $10 less.

LINK

Neither of them has played well and are both likely to be cut/have the contracts redone at much lower numbers. This will happen to Smith sooner since he came out a year earlier.

Leinart also had elbow surgery after the 2004 season. How that would have affected his draft stock we will never know. At worst he delayed his earnings a year and maybe went lower, though after the season he was projected as top 3.

Delayed income does not = lost income.

What an idiot for not declaring for the draft last year. He could have been a 1st pick. Now he has injury liability issue . Cost himself millions

bullshite. That is just HORRIBLE luck. Maybe he just wanted Sanchez out of there and Stafford. OR better yet he thought he could get Detroit out of there. He will now be the poster boy for all who come out early. Whether they are ready or not.

NOW. MY question. What should he do now??? Stay another year to prove his shoulder has healed and can hold up. So he can build his draft status back up. Or just take whatever money and team he can? He could go to a much better team now. One who has a little time to work on a project.

Being a returning Heisman trophy winner at a football school like Oklahoma who is going to be a pro QB means he had more hot poon in one year than most guys get in 5 lifetimes.

If I am Bradford, forget OU, I would not play college ball again. Get the shoulder healed up, surgery if necessary, prepare for the NFL combines before the draft...

You would be correct, sir. Despite what some are claiming on here...it was always going to be Stafford for Detroit.

Adrian Peterson was always injured in college, look how he turned out

Bradford is still going to make a shite ton of money, yes you can go back to school after your NFL career, but you can't go back to try and win a national championship

People keep talking about how other players had multiple injuries in college and turned out ok.

This is totally different. This is the same injury that has now happened twice in 7 weeks. This is a MAJOR problem for NFL scouts. Even if he comes back, looks great in combines and workouts, etc. teams will not pick him in the top 10, maybe not in the first round because they KNOW he has a high risk of reinjury. It has to do with the guaranteed money for the high picks.

Most of the teams at the bottom that would be trying to pick him up early can't protect their QB anyway. They'll know it and pass.

He's not an idiot for coming back but it was a calculated risk that didn't work in his favor -- clearly. Too bad for the guy but it's good to see OU in the toilet.
