She is already worth more then him. She is a millionaire. She still sells albums and tours. I'd also be willing to bet she is more recognizable then him currently. Now soon he will be worth a lot more and more recognizable.
Lets also not act like he doesn't have his own baggage.
It could be something as simple as two relatively nice people in vain and cut throat industries found each other and really like one another.
