history means nothing. HC has a better defense and a better offense this year.

Still doesn't mean HC will win. I'm sure in the life of their losing streak to Rummel they've had a better team at least a few times. I believe it was 03' when Steltz was out HC had a 20-0 lead and ended up blowing it. All streaks have to come to a end eventually though so we'll see. But I'll go with Rummel pulling a W out.

so let me get this straight. even though HC has the better team, is more highly ranked, has a better record, you are going to go with Rummel because they came back to win a game 10 years ago?

give me a break

i still remember that game when holy cross was up 20-0 at halftime on rummel but they came back and won it in the last 10 seconds

those that don't know history are bound to repeat it...

i guess i'm getting a jump on yall bc it's 2014 now where i'm from... hopefully i'll make it a doubleheader this weekend at Yenni bc Chalmette plays Bonnabel, which is of no significance and little interest of anybody but me

remember the name: Dominic Curole

lol, y'all should take that one I would hope.

I love your hate for HC though, these kids these days don't have enough respect for how big that rivalry used to be

You don't have it strait. I was just giving you an instance when a better team HC team lost to a Rummel team. It happens in sport all the time, especially in rivalries. Tough losses like the one HC had last week can take a lot out of a team as well.

I wouldn't exactly call HC vs RHS a rivalry.

Well then district game. And you're probably right. How's that old saying go? For it to be a rivalry one team has to win at least every once in a while?

Wasn't supposed to be, just saying. I honestly have no clue how good either team is this season. Just bored at work and trying to pass the time.

well if it wasn't for yall i'm not sure who our rival would be... maybe Belle Chasse or all the schools in Slidell? the attendances don't bear that out though. when i was in school it was Salmen bc they were good and it geographically makes sense out of all the Slidell schools.

also Hannan was a rivalry despite only playing them in district bc John Serio didn't want none otherwise. when they were in St. B the series ended 3-3 in football, then we inexplicably played them the first year after Katrina and got stomped by an 18 kid team

some want a school rebuilt "down the road" and i'm not sure if it's Chalmette people wanting "St. Bernard" kids out of CHS or "St. Bernard" people wanting "St. Bernard" kids out of CHS. i say it never happens bc the way CHS is being built out it would be stupid to cut it in half while in progress or right after.

we also can't afford another similar high school right now, and just imagine if the kids up the road got the Taj Mahal of high schools while the kids down the road got plain ol' St. Bernard High

but every time we get blasted by HC someone probably thinks "maybe we shouldn't play them anymore" but lo and behold we do and if it turns out to be even a close game "the rivalry's back"

and i'll share my opinion on the Jefferson Parish district... we're in it bc we think we can win against them but not against the Catholic schools... obviously if we thought we could win against the Catholic schools we'd be playing them. I realize Bobby Nuss did okay back in the day lol... Jason Tucker is no Bobby Nuss. Coach Salt might have been

if we thought we'd lose against everybody we might as well play the Catholic League and become the new old De La Salle for the gates...

HC played 20 years of 5A ball with 3A enrollment. things are changing, and HC will be more competitve in basketball and football than they have been in the past, much to the chagrin of chalmetteowl

I just remember the old pranks we used to play on each other. Chalmette dyed our pool maroon, we burned HC in the field, shoe polishing the other teams cars, HC students rearranging the letters on the roof on Judge Perez. always a fun week when I was in school. about half my class was from the parish, I don't know what the numbers look like these days as far as HC's demographic, but I know it isn't quite that slanted anymore, so hopefully the rivalry can be sustained with the changes in the makeup of the HC student body. if anything else, ole Meatball Serigne will help keep the rivalry alive
