The guy has dropped 40+ in Finals 3 or 4 times already. I will get slammed but I am ranking him ahead of Anthony Davis right now for sure.

Then you are an idiot and know jack shite about basketball. Sorry to tell you.

I watch a lot of basketball. A lot. I won't argue about Chris Paul against Kyrie. I would argue Kyrie against Russ or Harden. Might sound crazy but stats aren't everything. Kyrie shows up in huge moments and delivers. Harden and Russ are nothing but stat stuffers so far. Might not be in those moments without Lebron, but the kid can play. Putting him outside Top 20 is just making a statement to show effect. Kyrie is a Top 20 player in this league for sure.

Anthony Davis can't stay healthy. He has an amazing skill set matched with amazing measurable and hasn't accomplished anything. It's very pretentious if you to say someone doesn't know anything about basketball because they don't agree with you on your ranking of NBA players.

Edited: I put a lot more weight on playoff basketball than I do AD or these other guys shelling out triple doubles on a random Tuesday in December. I'm taking Kyrie everyday in a playoff run over Davis, harden, or Russ. That's just me though.

I can back up my reasoning for it, because while I think he is arguably the funnest player to watch, he offers nothing outside of scoring.

He's not an all around player, just an elite scorer. I have said in the ranking thread that I could see a case for him being top 15, though he isn't to me. I have him somewhere in that 18-25 range. And I think that's fair.

Taking him over someone like Anthony Davis is blasphemous, and I'm not just saying that as a Pels fan. Every GM in the NBA would tell you the same.

You have no argument that can be made for Irving over Davis. That is just a fact.

Scoring: Davis, though it is close.
Defense: Davis by a HUGE margin. Kyrie doesn't now what defense is.
Efficiency: Davis, seeing as he's 3rd all time in PER, behind only MJ and Lebron. No big deal.

I love Anthony Davis. He can be a GOAT in his prime but he just hasn't done it yet. I have no NBA allegiance other than hating Golden State.

I am just ranking NBA players on who I would want with it all on the line. Davis would be plenty down the line for me. You can spew stat after stat at me. If I want to win this game 7, I'll take Irving.

The best part is you don't have to agree with me. You certainly don't need to call me an idiot though.

You're right. Name-calling is not cool. So I apologize for that.

No worries. I love Anthony Davis. He has won me some serious coin in daily fantasy sports in the past.

Kyrie was incredible in the finals when the Cavs won last year. He's easily a top 10 player IMO. I'd pick him every day over Chris Paul.
Oh dear God.

Davis (2016/17 stats): 28 PPG, 50.5 % FG

Career PPG of 22.4, including rookie year where they handled him with training wheels.

Kyrie (2016/17 stats): 25.4 PPG, 47% FG

Career PPG of 21.6

Then if we add in PER, well... Davis absolutely shits on him.

But, you know, let's ignore stats that prove I am right.

I can see kyrie over Davis. Davis is a guy who shows up on the stat sheet but not in the win loss column.

But look at the Cavs pre-LeBron when Kyrie was THE guy like Davis is in NOLA....the Cavs were one of the worst teams in the entire league.

Only because the league is now all about outside game.

Irving had chances to lead the Cavaliers, he couldn't. Davis at least carried his team to the playoffs before, and that was as a big man. You know Davis is a better player.

Kyrie without Lebron:

Ls all over. They'd be a lottery team.

To be fair, my original comment said Kyrie was probably a Top 10 guy because of Lebron. Either way, Kyrie is a much different player since Lebron has come over. He's taken a leap. He isn't there defensively, but he's a lot closer to the type of guy Kobe was and people had him as the best player in the game. And he was thought of as the best because he could score and hit game winners, not his PER or whatever else. And I hate Kobe. Kobe also won titles as the second best player on his own team.

How'd Kyrie's W/L column look before LeBron showed up?

Bruh!

Kobe could facilitate, and be a plus offensive player even if he were shooting bad. Kobe was a really, really good defensive player.

Kyrie does one thing well, and if he's off his game, he's a net negative player.

Warriors stil clearly better. But all it takes is for Steph to be banged up like he was in the finals two years ago and HOU would be better. and like you said Daryl isnt done yet. Stay tuned.

Hahaha hahaha hahaha injury to Steph and you're good? I guess KD Klay and Draymond are just going to sit out if Steph is hurt too?

A quick check shows Irving averages 5.8 assists a game for his career to Kobes 4.7 per game. Kobe gets about 1.5 more rebounds a game. Careers aren't over but it appear Kyrie facilitates more than Kobe.

Without stats, I always felt that Kobe was widely criticized for not sharing the ball, something Kyrie has been criticized for in the Lebron years.

I agree Kobe was great defensively. Kyrie has been subpar.
