“Our view of the pitch clock is that we feel it’s been effective in the minor leagues,’’ Manfred said, “we really do. I think when you look at our experience with the effort we undertook last year, and you look month-by-month in terms of where we were in terms of game time, we did really well early and kind of regressed the second half of last year, and certainly this year. “Our evaluation of that is, the more we can have on the field, constant reminders so it’s in front of people’s minds, the better off we are in terms of continuing to move the game along. And I think the clock is probably the quintessential example of the reminder that keeps pace in people’s minds. “And, quite frankly, the data shows that people don’t violate the 20-second. With or without a clock. It’s a reminder that moves things along.” When asked if he would like to see the clock implemented perhaps as early as next season, Manfred didn’t hesitate. “I would,’’ he said. “I said yes because there’s no temporal assigned to that.”

Well they've been doing it in the minors. Figured it would be a matter of time before it hit the show

I wouldnt either. I first saw it in the Fall League. Didn't really notice it after an inning or two.

yea, I've been to several minor league games this year and it probably should be adopted in the bigs. i'm not sure it sped the game up tho because 20 seconds is really a long time and rarely did the pitch come close to being late. and the clock is often stopped by time outs and such. personally, I think they could go to 15 seconds. that's plenty of time to transmit and receive the signs and deliver the ball.

having said all of that, it's football that i'm tired of taking so long. the 3 hour college game is now the 4 hour game and non action exceeds the actual plays. esp the damn commercials.

I worry Manfred is gonna tinker with the game too much. The pitch clock and batters box rule are fine but I don't want a 154 game season or a limit on bullpen, or for him to eliminate shifts.

The starting pitchers are fine. The game flows when they are in the game. Something must be done about relievers though. They bog down the shite out of a game.

I love the pitch clock in the minors. Instead of the proposed reliever rule though, I would limit one mound visit by the catcher, per pitcher, per inning.

Will this end up like football where they just squeeze in more commercials so the games last the same amount of time?

Cutting the time between innings and pitching changes would help a lot more.

Keep batters in the box.

If you have to fool with your gloves, do it after your at bat.

Umps stop giving time out to fidgit. Pitcher throws a strike. They would stop stepping out.

Criminal.....keep big government out of baseball. Forcing players to stay in the box is equally criminal
