All this rage. Was it kicker's syndrome? (Instead of little mans syndrome)

He tried out for the Lions the day before his death. Said to have been in a good mental state

Did they ever identify the wife's friend who watched the movie with them? What about the actual movie they watched?

I knew him back before he walked on at Auburn, and he used to dabble in psychedelics from time to time. Not saying that's the case here, but it sounds like a psychotic reaction to something.

You may be on to something:
quote:

Connor Fraley, a 20-year-old student, said he was a passenger in the truck that had been driving behind Bironas on Battery Lane when he and others in the truck noticed a burning smell coming from Bironas' vehicle.

"His window was down, and we pulled up and I said, 'Hey man, just a heads-up, something's burning from your exhaust. Your exhaust smells horrible, just wanted to let you know,' " Fraley recalled telling Bironas. "He looked over at me and said, 'I'm going to kill everybody in your (expletive) vehicle.' It was so random, so bizarre, I was like, 'What?' And he said the exact same thing again."

I've heard that smoking bad meth can smell like burning pastic.

He encountered the students shortly after leaving his home. He was probably driving with the parking brake on or something... possibly revving the shite out of his gears. He chases the students around and then heads home... Crashes a short distance from his house.

The one article mentions that one of the students was on the line with 911 for the majority of the time Bironas was fixated on them. That should be interesting.

I think that he had probably been in a depression realizing his career was ending. May have caused a psychotic break of some sort. Wife may have seen some hints of strange behaviors leading up to this whole thing but not really put it together entirely.

A couple theories/possible factors:

1. He may have planned the movie night so there would be a friend there to "distract" his wife so he could pursue another agenda. Likely extreme paranoia had been building (suspicion of something occurring while he was out of town trying out for the Lions the day prior).

ETA: She may have been passed out as well at some point and not realized how much time had passed between him saying goodnight and him leaving. eta; He says goodnight at 9:30...she zones out but thinks it was for only a moment...

2. He may have actually damaged his brakes to the point of being useless at some point early in the drive. He leaves the house to "blow off steam" and not let his fairly new wife see that side of him... Mean-mugging people a non-verbal "Don't you know who I am!?!?" thing. Feeling like an idiot for trying to drive with the parking break on not helping his ego... Then is unable to slow the vehicle before it's too late.

From the 911 call by the student w/ his friends being chased:

quote:

Fraley described trying to elude Bironas, who followed the students from the intersection of Battery Lane and Franklin Pike going north toward Douglas Avenue and then weaving through residential areas. That's where Fraley said he saw blue lights pull behind Bironas.

"There's a police car right behind him, I think," Fraley said. "White SUV — yup, that's him. You guys got him right there."

The dispatcher asked Fraley again if Bironas was being pulled over during the call. Fraley initially answered yes but then said they lost sight of Bironas' car behind the tree line as they sped away.

"Yes ma'am, I believe so, I believe so," he said to the dispatcher.

"We were past the tree line and it cut off, and we saw the police turn their lights on behind him, pulling him over. And it was a white SUV, they were pulling the white SUV over."

quote:

The department's research shows there is "absolutely no record of any traffic stop," [Police Sokesman Don] Aaron said.

Some fanboy cop dropped the ball big time.

ETA:

From Rachel's 911 call - It seems like they saw him leave. I think it will probably be found the last time she saw him to be earlier than 9:30pm... In which case Bironas was probably RETURNING from wherever he was when the encounter with the students began. There is a map showing where some of the interactions occur on one of the links in this thread.

Driving with the parking break on is a solid theory and explains both the smell and the lack of skid marks at the scene.

But to verbally threaten to kill people you don't know and then try to run others off the road, I think that's gotta involve some mind altering substance. His wife said he was normal when he went to bed and I don't know if psychosis sets in that fast. Of course, she could be lying or imperceptive.

They were having some sort of threesome, things go wrong and the chick has a guy pick her up. Bironas is pissed and goes after them. The 911 call is from the girl, "some guy is trying to run us off the road, we don't eve know him." Who says that unless they know him and don't want the police to know?
This might have legs. He was going after someone.
