Griffin and his PR machine literally dared Shanahan and the Redskins to play him at the start of last season. Everyone knew he wasn't ready, either physically from his injury or as a pocket passer QB. Shanahan, for all his faults, knew this, but it was more important to Griffin to be the "Brand" than to be a top-notch, prepared franchise QB.
