1. Clemson (13-0)
2. Alabama (12-1)
3. Stanford (11-2)
4. Ohio State (11-1)
At the end of the day I think these were the four best teams in the country. MSU may have beaten OSU head-to-head but the Buckeyes win that game 9 times out of 10. Oklahoma's resume was enhanced by three teams who did not have their starting QBs on the field when they played the Sooners.
2. Alabama (12-1)
3. Stanford (11-2)
4. Ohio State (11-1)

You make a good point. People place way too much importance on results on the field.

I agree. But best and most deserving are two very separate things.

i mean no doubt those wouldve resulted in the best games but stanford and ohio state didnt deserve it compared to the other two with their regular season. and whos to say the say thing that happened in th efirst round games wouldnt have happened to them and youd be making this same argument for michigan state and ou? clemson and bama were far and away the best two teams this year.

I agree. While Bama beat Clemson head to head, I think Clemson wins that game 7 out of 10 times, that's why I have them as my NC.

The LSU team that beat Ttech in the bowl would have beaten both Clemson and Ohio St... BUT IMO the best team overall was Stanford..... They could have beaten ANYBODY ......... And I thik they get a playoff bid next year and possible they cold run the table........

Stanford had no right with 2 losses. There were plenty of 1 loss teams with a better argument. Stanford was very good though.

Question: How good would Stanford have looked if they were playing say Ohio State in the Rose Bowl instead of Iowa?

I probably would have had OSU at 3 in this hypothetical, but I have no problem with your rankings either. These may have been the best teams, but Stanford couldn't go because they were a 2 loss champion who lost to Northwestern and OSU couldn't go ahead of MSU because there was a 1 loss conference champion from their own conference who beat them.
However, this didn't seem to be a problem for Alabama in 2011, so I don't know why they couldn't make it happen. That would have been at the demise of a conference champion, from a conference they left out last year (Big 12), so i likely answered my own question

While you may be right, the fact is they didn't play 10 games. They played 1. OSU did not show up. Michigan State earned the spot

Meh, that is a copout IMO.
If you're the best then your results should bear that out and you'll be one of the 4 most deserving teams as a result.
People kept saying how great OSU was this year, but they looked like shite on a weekly basis. In the end they weren't the best nor were they one of the most deserving teams. It happens.

Ohio State had a top 5 margin of victory this year, FYI.

I'll listen to the Ohio state argument but did you watch the same game I did Monday to include Clemson in there?
Posted on 1/14/16 at 10:36 am to RollTide1987
Ohio state looked like shite all year and lost their game that mattered the most.
If they got in they could have won the whole thing for sure. But they showed nothing to prove they should have been in the top 4

They probably were, but Clemson and Alabama were head and shoulders above everyone else. Oklahoma and Michigan State had fine teams, but CU and Ala just clobbered them.

Ohio state looked like crap all year and you know it

struggled against Northern Illinois the entire game. Barely escaped a game against Indiana. Lost the biggest game on your schedule. The Big 10 was a joke this year, and Ohio State only played 2 teams with a wining conference record in conference play
