This kid is in for a rude awakening when he gets to the league.

Projected to be a top-2 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Ben Simmons is weighing sneaker deals from both Adidas and Nike. Each company presented him with competitive offers, but Adidas offered Simmons a more incentivized contract. However even though the potential deal with Adidas will pay him more, Simmons is waiting until the results of Tuesday's Draft Lottery before deciding which company's sneaker he will be playing in and representing. According to The Vertical's Nick DePaula, Simmons' decision to wait is because he and his agents are seeing where the Lakers end up in the lottery. Simmons wants to sign with Nike and he is hoping that if they are able to select him with their top pick, Nike will give him an even larger deal.

Seems reasonable to wait, why is he in for a rude awakening?

I don't think he will be a franchise player in a classic sense(Duncan,LeBron, etc.), but he won't be a flop.

Yeah. What is wrong with what he is doing? If LA drafts him, his marketability will be better thus he will command more money.

What exactly is he in for? You wouldn't want all information available before making a multi million dollar decision??

I don't care if this kid signs with converse. No one should give a kid that is that selfish and self centered 100 million to wear a shoe playing a TEAM sport.

They would be better off donating every dime of it to St. Jude

Majority of NBA fans are still anti-labor. It's the same folks that hate that players have taken charge and now dictate free agency.

A lot of folks still long for the times when players didn't squabble with shoe deals and stayed with their teams for their entire careers. They confuse a lack of options with virtue.

I'm not anti-labor, but doing what's in the best interest of the league outweighs the players best interest.
