the yankees are terrible right now, so that's not exactly a surprise or an accomplishment.

The job Girardi did last season was pretty tremendous. It's not his fault his GM sucks and saddled him with a bunch of washed up old players with gigantic contracts. This is what happens when you have no minor league system and all your players are free agents you signed when they were 30/31 to 7 year deals.

You got 1 World Series out of it 7 yrs ago...now you're seeing the end of most of those over the top deals...and it's not pretty.

the yankees' minor league system is fine. right around the middle of the pack in baseball.

1 world series, 3 league championship series in 4 years, 5 playoff appearances in 7 years. 2013 - teixeira, jeter, and a-rod missed a combined 410 games. 2014 - a-rod missed the entire season. obviously, an older team will experience some injuries, but 2013 was some of the worst injury luck for any team in recent memory. would have likely been a playoff team that year too.

it is what it is. they don't appear to be very good this year, but a lot of those long contracts (tex, a-rod, sabathia) were the biggest reasons for their recent success. and they made the playoffs last year, so it's not like they've just been tanking lately. it will be "not pretty" for one season. that's a pretty damn good trade off.

then they'll likely reload again next year when some big contracts come off the books. not exactly that bad of a cycle.

Yankees Suck

Go Sox. Pitching still scares me but looking a lot better than earlier this season.

We're just old. We all knew this would be a pretty bad season. I was just kinda hoping for 500. If everything clicked right we would have had a shot at the wild card game again, but I didn't expect more than that. Give it this year and next year when we free up more money than most small countries.

He should've never gotten the job and needs to be canned ASAP. The guy managed 1 season in fla won 79 games and gets the Yankee gig. We should've hired mattingly twice already because this clown ain't winning anything ever again. I wouldn't be upset if cashman was handed his walking papers too.

it's been a month and they play in a division where 90 wins tops will probably win it, and in a league where 86 wins might get you the 2nd wildcard.

long season. i don't think they're a playoff team, but have some patience.

I agree I think the bats wakeup and we get to the playoffs. But joe isn't a good manager go checkout the guys who've played for him check their numbers before and after playing for him compared to when they were in pinstripes it's shocking how much of a drop off there is under girardi. He can't make a lineup he doesn't handle pitchers correctly he's in love with the moneyball approach and I'm not knocking it but when you have the tools to play traditional baseball you do it. There's nothing about girardi that gives the yankees an edge we can pick whoever we want no reason we should be stuck with this garbage.
