Yeah, I got your point. Rice had a hearing which comports with "due process," was given a penalty and then the penalty was changed. That is the same concept that flies in the face of the concept of double jeopardy.

Goodell said his indefinite suspension of Rice is consistent with his new domestic violence policy announced late last month, with a six-game suspension for a first offense and at least a year suspension for the second.

This is some weak shite. First off, Goodell had to do nothing. The Ravens released Rice before he stepped with his indefinite suspension. With the Ravens terminating his contract, I seriously doubt any other team was going to touch Rice this season. His image was just too toxic & signing him would cause a huge media circus along with swift criticism.

Goodell could have done nothing & not look like even more of an fool then he already has. So instead he uses one incident as second offense? As bad as the video was, this was Rice's first trouble with the law. What now protects other players in the league from Goodell suspending a player indefinitely in the future who don't have criminal histories? So does Goodell immediately suspend players now if there is public outrage over a player off the field incident without even gathering all the facts? Absolute power corrupts.

With his overreaction to cover his arse, he's opened pandora's box. This could well end up being followed dragged into court which is just going to lead to even more criticism & controversy.

The NFL can do anything they fricking want in relation to discipline for conduct detrimental.

Double jeopardy is a concept that applies in criminal proceedings in this country, not with your employer.

Can't be taken into custody or court on this charge. Plead to lesser charge and too diversion classes. NFL already suspended him 2 games and it was submitted and agreed by both sides. It's not his job to provide info. NFL's responsibility to conduct strong investigation. He will sue and will win. Probation is only 6 months after that he is free. This will get uglier especially if NFL lied. Either way he weathers the storm and will get compensated in the end. NFL better have it's shite together.

Sue to have his suspension reduced?

And he didn't plead to anything. That's not what diversion is.

And are you arguing double jeopardy applies to Ray Rice and his NFL suspension?

And compensated by who?

Man, so many questions stem from your post.

And it can be challenged in court and defeated.

The thing is the NFL just mandated that a first offense is 6 games. Then a video comes out and the 6 games is now indefinitely. I think rice should be banned forever after seeing that but why make a rule and not follow it? If he just punched her and knocked her out then what? If he shoved her and she got knocked out then what?
