As I was reading this thread, I just received this picture from one of the guys I share season tickets with.

I can't even imagine. Given that I have 1/8 of the season, and it goes six, I would be guaranteed 1.5 tickets in the WS.

11. Houston - only Tampa and Atlanta have worse fans in all of MLB. I'm hoping they don't make it to a big boy series for this reason alone.

1. Toronto - Rogers Centre will be insane - more like a Seahawks game than baseball.
2. Chicago Cubs - Wrigley Field. Playoffs. Cold weather. I pray they get to host games in a big boy series.
3. Kansas City - Amazing fans and more rowdy than St. Louis (not better, just rowdier)
4. NY Mets - Going to be awesome to see playoff baseball in Queens
5. Pittsburgh - awesome fans - still would rather see Cub fans get to host some games.

These are certainly the top 5.

Mets games are so much fun. Same with Pittsburgh.

I'd put the Cardinals over the Yankees. People just don't go to Yankees games anymore.

Going backwards from this year, the Mets have been 12, 21, 21, 17, 14, 12, and 7 in attendance.

I'm not really that impressed.

ETA: in 2008, they were second. So one impressive year.

As an Astros fan I can't completely disagree with him. For the past several years Astros fans have sucked at attendance, but it's also hard to be a motivated fan when your team is losing 100 games a season.

Back in the 80's, 90's, and early 00's ranking them 3rd to last as fans isn't true though. Middle of the pack to top quarter for some seasons would be more accurate.

For a team that was in first for a large portion of the season to have as low of attendance numbers as the Astros have had this season is pathetic. Typically things like attendance bounce back the season after a good season though, so hopefully that gets better next season.

I'll add however that if the Astros manage to make the postseason this season that the juice box will be rocking.

If attendance is how we are figuring this out than the Dodgers are so far ahead of everyone

The team with the largest stadium also has the largest attendance? Fascinating

People in LA think baseball is only three innings long. (4th-6th inning)

Well no shite, they're one of the oldest teams in baseball history. I'm not sure the relevance of "North American" sports since the other major sports play half the number of games per year at most. Doesn't change the fact that the Dodgers attendance as a percentage of stadium capacity is still lower than other marquee franchises like the Red Sox, Cubs, Cardinals, Yankees, Giants, etc.

because the sox, cubs, and giants play in tiny stadiums. the dodgers would have just as much of a capacity percent if they played in stadiums that are in the 35k to 40k range. they have a better attendance percentage than the yankees in recent years and its not like they are ever embarrassing in that category. this year they finished 6th and thats generally where they finish. dodgers played in the most well attended baseball game in recorded history. they reached 3 million fans like seven or eight times before anyone did it once. say what you want about the fanbase but trying to question the attendance the franchise has always gotten is dumb

I'm not trying to say they have bad attendance. But you came in and claimed that their attendance makes them "so far ahead of everyone else". Filling 70-80% of a stadium that has more capacity than ones that fill 95% doesn't make you "so far ahead". Sorry

except when you consider all of the historical marks the franchise has achieved when it comes to attendance

Nope, I haven't been there since July, or in 1993. I've been to hockey games in Toronto, but baseball is a different animal there in my experience

You really get off on this attendance thing huh??? Who the frick cares if the Dodgers have had the most people??? When is the last time they won anything?????? BTW The Cubs, Cards have A WAY WAY BETTER fanbase......

Say what you want but the Cards have had the best fans in baseball for years... Its pretty common knowledge.....
