I'm about as excited for this year's MLB playoffs as I can remember. Part of the reason is the INCREDIBLE stadiums/fanbases that will be making a return to the postseaston. Ranking these fanbases in relation to how rabid they will be (don't get pissed, St. Louis fans - take into context the postseason droughts of Chicago and Toronto). How do your rankings compare to mine?

1. Toronto - Rogers Centre will be insane - more like a Seahawks game than baseball.
2. Chicago Cubs - Wrigley Field. Playoffs. Cold weather. I pray they get to host games in a big boy series.
3. Kansas City - Amazing fans and more rowdy than St. Louis (not better, just rowdier)
4. NY Mets - Going to be awesome to see playoff baseball in Queens
5. Pittsburgh - awesome fans - still would rather see Cub fans get to host some games.
6. NY Yankees - Used to be one of the best, the new $800 seats in the lower lower level kills a ton of the atmosphere, but still a great vibe
7. St. Louis - Really unfair ranking but these fans are fantastic and are old pros. Do they even get truly excited for a NLDS series anymore? This is like comparing Steelers fans to Browns fans - Steelers fans aren't "better", they're just used to making the playoffs
8. LA Dodgers - also a crime to have them ranked this low, but consider it a compliment to the laid back SoCal atmosphere.
9. Tejas - better fans than to be ranked #9 but what can you do? This is an historic year for great fanbases in the playoffs.
10. Anaheim - Decent fans they can get loud.
11. Houston - only Tampa and Atlanta have worse fans in all of MLB. I'm hoping they don't make it to a big boy series for this reason alone.

Meh don't buy the cheapest ticket and you'll be fine.

Larry King is a staple at Dodger Stadium - it's not that bad

you are right though, there are some awesome fan bases this year. Lots of long suffering ones.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a fanbase more rabid with excitement and anticipation than Cubs fans.

Full disclosure: I am one.

It's all subjective, of course, but IMO Toronto fans are more rabid than Cubs fans currently. I watch a ton of baseball and go to Wrigley a few times a year. I love Cubs fans and Wrigley (even though I hate the team) and I mean you can't really pick a bad fanbase and atmosphere in this bunch (aside from Houston).

I realize that me picking a Canadian team who plays in a retractable roof stadium and on artificial turf isn't going to be very popular

Astros and Angels are not making the playoffs. Twins will get 2nd WC.

I'd put them right behind St Louis. Would be cool to see I'd prefer them to Houston or LA Angels

Not really. I live in Canada and up close I don't find them to be impressive. Here are their attendence ranks in the AL(14 teams) the last 5 years before this one:

2010: 12th
2011: 10th
2012: 8th
2013: 6th
2014: 7th

This year they're 4th, but they've been middle of the pack to bottom half of the AL in fan support. I was there in May and it was a horrible atmosphere. I get that there will be the novelty of postseason baseball for the first time in 22 years, but trying to pass them off as a rabid passionate fanbase, and the best in baseball at that, is a joke.

FTR I'm rooting for the Jays to win it all at this point, so I'm not saying any of this out of spite, it's just not correct

I like how apologetic the OP was to St. Louis fans. Afraid of their wrath? Either that or he just didn't want mizzoukills to hijack the thread.

Agree to disagree then.

The cubs have outdrawn the Jays this year, they outdrew them last year, they outdrew them in 2013, they outdrew them in 2012 (toronto was 23rd), they outdrew them in 2011 (toronto was 25th), they outdrew them in 2010 (toronto was 26th).

Sensing a pattern?

Since 2001, the Cubs have never been lower than 12 in attendance (all but 3 of those years, Cubs were top 10), and they've been shitty many of those years. The Bluejays have been toward the bottom of MLB multiple times, which is the epitome of a fair weather, johnny come lately fan base.

Add in the WS draught, and I defy you to find a more passionate fanbase.

In 2003, thousands of people packed the streets around Wrigley just to be near the ballpark. It was insane.

Or go to 2:15 of this video. Check out the bleacher celebration (in the second inning)...and check out the people in the streets and in the buildings across the streets. Give me goosebumps, and a lump in my throat, remembering what that run was like.
