Rams have so little respect for Colin Kaepernick they leave receivers uncovered

Everyone talks about how bad Colin Kapernick is, but the real story is that despite how brutally beyond terrible he's been, his backup Blaine Gabbert is sooooo bad that every time someone brings him up as an option they go "oh yeah, that would be pointless, he'd find a way to be worse"

Like Kap could throw like 8 INT next week and still not get benched because Blaine Gabbert is his backup. This is like the opposite version of the Farve/Rodgers situation from 06

Not even looking around. Just takes play and runs it without looking at defense

A little misleading. There's only 9 defenders in the screen. So there's two safeties to cover them.

But yeah. He's terrible and defenses don't respect him at all

Dude is terrible. Amazing how far he and that franchise have fallen.

I think being an NFL QB is one of the hardest jobs on the planet, and I think a lot of these guys just run out of gas after a few years. Kaep probably puts in minimal effort in the film room these days. Just collecting the paycheck. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are a rare breed.

But if he throws it on a designed run play, doesn't he risk a penalty for illegal man downfield?

Not if he throws it immediately. There wouldn't be time for the OL to get down field.

Not if he throws it behind the line of scrimmage.

Receivers were running forward though. He would've had to hot route the WR

What's the allowable distance, 3yds? The RG is 2yds down almost immediately. Guess it depends on if he faked the handoff or not. But I'm not defending him. Can't stand that dude.

York needs Kaep as a scapegoat for this year of hell that he created. They'll never bench him. 3-13 probably
