So, Julio is gong to play on a short week rest with a lingering hamstring injury.

The Falcons staff is doing their best to use him up and Julio being Julio he will gladly let them. Julio plays the receiver position harder and tougher than just about any receiver I can remember. It's just his style. He loves contact. He loves to block. He loves to lay the wood. This leads to injury , especially with over a dozen targets a game.

Should the Falcons protect him from himself and force him to sit and rest this week, because the only way hamstrings get better is rest? And we know he's mentally incapable of taking a game off and playing the decoy.

As a GM or coach, I'd sit him unless absolutely necessary.

Against the Saints defense, they do not need Julio to win. There will be no pass rush on Ryan while the running game will be solid as well.

I'd sit him too. The Falcons should be able to take the saints without him. Give him a long rest.

Agreed and he was very limited last week anyway. What is there to gain?

Julio's proneness to injury is really the only thing holding him back from being the best WR in the NFL.

The Saints game isn't an auto-win either, divisional games are typically close regardless.

But I dint think he's particularly injury prone. He just plays the position in a rough way and doesn't protect himself like other receivers. But he's always played that way.

Every player is susceptible to injuries, but Julio Jones has certainly had some injuries that not only force him to miss time, but play through them well under 100%.

In 2015, he has a troubled hamstring that showed signs of limiting him last week. Looking like it will again this week.

In 2014, he suffered a hip pointer and missed a game.

In 2013, his season ended after re-fracturing the same foot that he ran through during the Combine.

In 2011, he missed three games with a troubled hamstring.

This doesn't detract from how tough of a player he is, but these were all non-contact injuries, right?

I don't really draw a line between being injury prone and playing a style that leads to injuries.

A RB that runs straight up will take bigger shots than one that runs more compactly. That will likely lead to more solid hits and then more injuries. I never was sold that Jimmy Graham is injury prone but he plays the game in a way that seems like it would lead to more injuries.

As far as sitting Julio, I agree I wouldn't sleep on the Saints. Brees should be getting stronger every week as he heals. So far, I don't think we really know much about the Saints offense. They dinked and dunked versus the Cardinals likely due to Arizona's secondary. Since then I don't know how the offense would really look with a fully healthy Brees. I'm not saying they would still be an elite offense, but I do think they would look much better.

The Saints defense has a lot of rookies along with some veterans working their way back. I've seen times where the Defense looks really good and times where they look lost. Bottom line is they are capable of playing a really good game even if it's not likely.

Add to that a prime time game in the Superdome against a hated rival and you can probably throw the records out the window. I would dress Julio and play him carefully. Hell, if Browner is covering him then Julio doesn't even have to run hard to either burn him or draw a pass interference.

I'm obviously a Saints fan and think they are better than the record shows. I don't, however, think they enough talent to be a contender.

Hopefully they get him a big play early, and just use him as a decoy the rest of the game. Fingers crossed they get Roddy more involved this game and let JJ rest for 10 days.
