Kinda wonder with the Rangers giving away Kinsler, if that means they're going to pursue Cano. Doubt they'll go $200,000,000 like he wants, but neither are the Yankees.

No reason to. Unless the Rangers are guaranteed Stanton for Profar there is no reason to spend that much money on a 31 year old 2nd basemen.

$200,000,000?

You're off by $100,000,000

Great move by the tigers. Fielder already declining and has zero defensive value.

Great deal for the Rangers. 1st base has been, by far, the biggest hole on the roster. They've had below average production from there for years. Fielder fills that hole and opens up a slot for Profar to play every day. Also, Kinsler's great 2008 season looks more and more like a fluke.

He hit 277/344/413 last year, which isn't terrible but also isn't exactly hard to replace. Even more disturbing, that line represented a significant improvement from last year.

That is great for a 2B. Tigers just need him to be average, since the major win was finding a partner to take Fielder's salary. Which is tougher than you think since he is an AL only player at this point

Omar Infante hit 318/345/450 last year for the Tigers. He's also the same age as Kinsler. He is a free agent, but I bet he'll make less than Kinsler will. Infante had better production than Kins for less money.

Rangers are reportedly getting 30 million back in the deal. I was hoping for $35, but ill take.

So for the next 3 years, you are only paying about $5 million more per year for Fielder.

$20 million a year for year 2017-2020 is going to hurt though.

I have no idea who wins this deal.

Despite Fielder's down year my first thought was I would much rather have Cabrera/Fielder in my lineup over Kinsler/Fielder.

But the more I look at it Kinsler comes cheaper, plays much better defense, and he's a hell of a bat for a 2B.

I guess it will depend on if Fielder continues his downward trend or thrives in Texas.

Kinsler's power numbers are due to plummet in Detroit.

The deal will look bad for the Tigers over next couple years

Reports are of Tigers resigning Max and going after bullpen help in Boone Logan among others.

Why would anyone want that worthless fat piece of shite named Prince Fielder?

Good for one thing..getting a fastball or hanging curve to put his gut into. Otherwise, useless.

Good for the rangers since it solves the Profar issue. Otherwise both players involved in this trade are overrated.

Hopefully playing in that launching pad will re-ignite Prince. Kins will need to change his approach in Detroit to get anywhere close to last year.

Not many of the premiere sluggers are worth their contract. It's just the price of free agency. Just hopefully he'll stay healthy for the next 7 years and he'll be productive.

...

If that's the going rate for premier sluggers, they'll be worth the contract.
