College lax or college baseball. Built in audience, spring sports so you're not up against the NFL, and a pretty good product. If you want a pro sport, you want it to be during the summer.

Horse racing. You can bet on it and chicks like horses.
Actually, the racing industry had this opportunity handed to them in the fifties. The fledgling networks came to them with a deal and the dumbass horsemen refused, thinking it would hurt attendance. At the time, horse racing was the #1 spectator sport in the country. The networks turned to the NFL instead, and the rest is history.

i say arena football... i'm biased, but it's football, during the summer, it's now going into its 26th year, you might have heard of some of the players in college ball, and the way it's looking right now, it's comparatively cheap to get into
