Sure about that?

And stating that no individual accomplishment puts Brady over Peyton isn't?

I corrected someone earlier that stated Peyton Manning had 2 Super Bowl rings.

I can't respond to everybody.

It's literally right before the RT1987 post you just responded to.

Joe Namath just wanted to drop this in here:

"Broadway Joe mentioned plenty of legendary signal-callers, from Otto Graham and Bobby Layne to Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers. At the end of the day, though, Brady is his clear No. 1. “I have a hard time calling anybody in any sport ‘the best’ because of the changes in the game, certainly, and because of the greats that were ahead of them,” Namath said. “But I will say, no one has ever played the game better than Tom Brady. You start looking at numbers, and sometimes statistics tell a story, and sometimes they don’t tell the whole story. It’s such a team game. But Tom has answered the bell. He has answered every challenge. “He’s great. He’s great. No one has ever done it better.”

Putting Tom Brady as #1 is completely reasonable, and while you could put others there, the data don't discredit the argument for TB. That being said, it is kind of self-reinforcing for Joe Namath to make this argument since the stats (granted at a different time) don't support his place in history. So his argument, which is unnecessary for TB (as he has the stats), is necessary for his own place among the greats.

What makes Brady the better overall QB is that he is willing to do anything to win.

No Brady has 4 superbowls because his first 3 were carried by the defense. Patriots defensive rankings for his first 3 SB wins were #1,#1,#2 in the entire nfl.

And yet Brady was MVP of the first 2.

Do they give mvps to entire defenses?

He was 16/27 for 145 yards in his first superbowl.

People conveniently forget this. In his first Super Bowl, Brady led his team down the field with less than 90 seconds left to put his kicker in position to win it with a field goal. This while Madden was vehemently protesting this decision during the broadcast. His second Super Bowl saw the Panthers tie it up with 66 seconds to play in the game. Once again, Brady moves the Patriots down the field and puts his kicker in position to win the game with a field goal. People also forget he went 32-48 with 354 passing yards in that game, plus 3 TDs.

He was 16/27 145 yards in his first. Far from mvp worthy. His defense shut down one of the the most dynamic offenses in nfl history.
He did play great against Carolina.

A defense that gave up over 430 yards?

Who got his team in position to win with a field goal with no time outs and less than 90 seconds on the play clock.

I wouldn't call giving up 430 yards against an offense that averaged about that in the regular season "shutting down."

Since win do YARDS GAINED win games? They held one of the best offenses ever out of the endzone until the 4th quarter. They held one of the best offenses ever, to 3 points in 3 quarters.

There was a reason the Rams were a 14 point favorite.

Probably because you, for whatever reason, view yards as a more important indicator of defensive success/failure than points.

Exactly. The patriots defense held the, statistically, best nfl offense ever(at the time)to 3 points in 3 quarters.

Yes, but they didn't exactly shut down the Rams like you said. Shutting down an offense is akin to the 21-0 game from 1/9/12. Or the 34-13 game from 1/1/93. Yeah...they kept them out of the end zone, but let's not act like they played like the '85 Bears that night. The Rams moved the ball well between the 20s. Mistakes and turnovers kept them from turning those yards into points.

The Rams, on the other hand, held the Patriots to just 267 yards - with over 50 of those yards coming on the final drive. Great QBs make plays when the game is on the line. Brady came into his own on that final drive. That is where Tom Brady became Tom Brady.
