He won't give it up on his own. They'll cart him straight from the field to the nursing home. He doesn't need the money, but he wouldn't know what to do with himself without football.

I can't judge Peyton over this. Tom is going to be the same way.

Good for him. His Super Bowl winning percentage is only 0.167% lower than Tom Brady. If he wins it all next season, he will be level with Brady and will go down as the undisputed GOAT QB.

However, with a healthy $26 million projected for the team's cap space even with Manning on the roster, the team is capable of solving most of its free-agent goals. The team also has more than $50 million of cap space projected for 2016.

But UltimateHog said they have cap problems so this can't be true

Wut?

He will still be two Super Bowls shy, and 3 appearances shy.

Oh, and assuming McCourty and Revis get extended, there is no way he's beating NE in the playoffs.

Yep, and how could anyone judge them negatively for that?

These guys have been some of the all-time best quarterbacks, and they are ultra competitive. Both can still play at this point and both play on teams with a chance at the Super Bowl. Tom Brady might ultimately last longer considering he is relatively healthy and didn't go through 4 neck surgeries (his arm strength is still excellent), IMO.

Besides, how could anyone judge Peyton Manning by the way the season ended with the news of his injury? Tearing a quad at the quarterback position, with an already weakened arm, is awful news - especially considering it was his plant leg (anyone who played sports know how important this is). In the end, you can say he has a down season, but the fact is that it was still among the top 5 in the NFL this year. 4,727 yards, 66.2%, 39 touchdowns and a 101.5 quarterback rating. If that is "done", then 90% of the NFL quarterbacks should not come back and play in 2015.

Period.

Tearing a quad

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

From what I've read and reports that have been leaking out, it was a thigh bruise. He wouldn't have been able to walk, much less throw, with a torn quad.

I thought Manning tore the quad after the Rams game? What explains his shitty performance against the Rams?

It was definitely torn. And yes, you can still walk with a torn quad. We just don't know how significant it was. It would have to be really serious for him to not be able to walk on it.

I don't know if people know this, but a muscle "strain" is a muscle "tear" also.

You don't. I read that report and don't believe it one bit.

It went from torn quad, to strained quad, to a bruised inner muscle of the quad.

To be honest, none of us will know the extent of it, other than he wasn't limping or needing to be constantly carried.

How about him throwing the ball 54 times while the offense only ran 10 running plays? Against St Louis' pass rusher?

My God, is Peyton Manning not allowed to play bad once in a while?

One end of those reports are wrong for sure.

Seemed like his injury was based on team performance either way during the stretch of the season

If the Broncos won, it was a minor bruise, if the broncos lost, it was a tear in the quad, oh wait now the bye week healed him all up, Nevermind it's torn again

He played shitty the last 2 months of the season or so. Some of which, he wasn't "injured" for, yet, yo.

We will find out definitively next year. The road to the SB is paved through The Razor, and you know it'll be cold.

If I have to guess, the Broncos are going to be much more run heavy next year and try to save his arm for the playoffs.

This is the same thing.

The bruising came with the torn quad.

Yet it was significant enough to completely mess his game up at the end of the year. Are we to think he just completely lost his game at the end of the year based on nothing? Or that Denver completely changed their offense based on nothing?

He definitely had something going on, but as you said, we will never know the extent.
