Should have been a roughing the snapper penalty.

I personally think the snapper was trying to block one of the two guys who just went straight through the line and that caused him to fall down. I'm okay with a no call.

makes you wonder if teams should use a hands specialist back there at points like that. (a WR) anyone can punt a ball 30 yards out of bounds.

K.

Mich probably should have been in a better formation to block the 10 guys running after the punter, such as the guy at the top of the screen looking back at the play the whole time with nobody on him.

That's a really good point, Chad.

i think a punter has a better shot at handling the punt. It's not exactly a normal trajectory for a skill player.

Exactly. They called a timeout and then treated it like a regular punt instead of going max protect. Stupid. Leaving 8 to block 10 in that situation is not a good idea. Then again, it's Michigan.

And it was blocked well enough to get the punt off.

If the punter does not drop it the game is over. The coaches did nothing wrong.

Yes, yes they did. Having two gunners in instead of bringing in extra lineman to block was as dumb a decision as possible

Bama got called for a roughing the snapper penalty when our guy blocked their guard into the snapper, barely grazing him.

Unbelievable.

Wrong, they had it blocked correctly. If he does not drop the ball the punt is away.

Did thy even have a returner? And even if they did, they had to punt blocking setup. He wasnt going anywhere

There was no returner.

It was 8 blocking 11.

They wasted a player. They had a player who did nothing on the play. Absoultely nothing unless he was blocking a ghost

And it was still blocked correctly. They weren't near blocking the punt.

Maybe the punter could have gotten his punt attempt off if they had the 2 extra blockers in to block.

So your point is even though it was blocked correctly, that the coaches messed up?

After watching that gif a few times, it seems that the punter likely shite himself when he saw all the unblocked guys rushing at him. Can't believe you don't go max protect in that scenario.

Exactly. That was a BDP-type formation.
