He wants to play on a "winning team"

NEW ORLEANS -- All-Star forward Paul George said Friday that he still longs to lead the Indiana Pacers to their first NBA championship but stopped short of guaranteeing that he will sign the lucrative contract extension that the team is expected to offer him this summer. Asked about the estimated $219 million contract extension that Pacers president Larry Bird is poised to offer him in July, George told Marc Stein on ESPN Radio's Meet The All-Stars: "As I told Larry, I always want to play on a winning team. I always want to be part of a team that has a chance to win it [all]. That's important. "Say what you want; I want to compete for something. It's frustrating just playing the game for stats or for numbers or to showcase yourself. Man, I want a chance to play for a chance to win a championship.

This is why the NBA fricking blows. Players don't want to work for championships they just want to create superstar teams

In this day and age, you will NEVER see a year like 2011 where one individual carried his team to a title. Sorry, but there are simply too many superstars overall in the game for that.

What the frick is this shite? Jesus Christ.

Paul George doesn't work? Who works?

Who worked for em back in the day? People who got drafted by the Lakers and Celtics? Who works now? Does Lebron work? He's accumulating the rings that you'd shite on him for if he didn't have.

Did MJ work for em? He stayed in Chicago until he had a great coach and a front office who put MAJOR talent around him. Does that mean he worked for em or didn't work for em?

$219m (or $80m after taxes, etc) is worth more than a championship.

I honestly don't know why they care so much about winning. I guess there is a great deal of validation in winning but if you have to go find a winning team and join it then it seems like a lot of the satisfaction from winning would be reduced.

i love this 180 over the past decade

the argument used to be "NBA players only care about the check and not winning"

now when they give up money to try to win, it's "NBA players care so much about winning that they do it wrong and give up money"
