@AdamSchefter: Blockbuster deal: Patriots traded LB Jamie Collins to Cleveland for a compensatory third-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

Don't get this for either team. Pats should be in win now mode and Browns in rebuild and add/stock picks mode

Has to be related to character. Pats wouldn't give up a premier NFL LBer in his prime for a 3rd round pick unless he's a locker room problem.

pats do it all the time, they believe in their system and trust their judgement in replacing players.

He'll be an unrestricted FA in 2017. Perhaps the Pats weren't going to resign him and it puts a damper on his value in a trade too.

Word is, is that Collins' camp had already told NE what he wanted and they thought it was too much. He wouldn't go down and they told him to frick off.

Well the Saints 3rd won't be as good as Clevland's 3rd. And no way in hell should they give up a 2nd for a guy who will be a FA in a year and half.

They sent him to the basement for a reason. Don't know what it is yet. They're not gonna help another team beat them.

This was an interview Collins did with the Boston Herald on Saturday:

quote:

It’s almost like it has reached the point where if Collins doesn’t do something memorable, his detractors will say his game was forgettable. He isn’t exactly engulfed by the outside concern, thus the laughs when asked about the highest of bars that has been set in place because of Collins’ penchant for the home-run play.

“I mean, it doesn’t affect me at all,” Collins said. “I’m going to do my business regardless. But that’s the thing. That’s what I’m saying. That’s everybody else’s pedestal, not mine. I handle my business or whatever it is, and I do what I do. Everybody else can take it how they want to take it.”

3 tackles against the Bills on Sunday and traded to the Browns on Monday. Woof.

Loomis would cut him before the 2017 season began.
