Pass Interference, should it be a spot foul or 15 yard?

If it was called with any kind of consistency i'd say it should be a spot foul but the drop>complain>flag happens all too often.

I go back forth on this one, I get both sides of the argument.

defensive holding should not be an automatic first down though IMO

neither should illegal contact. Horrible rule.

15 yards.

What if your team has to drive 80 yards in 20 seconds and a 10 second play for a 60 yard bomb gets fricked up by an intentional pass interference?

Make it a judgment call. Sometimes it's obvious that even with interference, the WR would not have caught the ball. That's the 15 yard variety. Intentional interference is spot foul. Hell even make the penalty reviewable.

it was changed from spot to 15 yards a number of years ago for a reason. I like the 15 yards better most of the time. this penalty is tough to call (often) and mistakes are made.

Those should be 5 yards + replay, just like offside. Most of the time there's no telling if the wr will even touch the ball.

Should be a 15 yard penalty in pros and college UNLESS you make in reviewable. You hand the game to the officials and make it like basketball (a game totally decided by officials) when you have the inconsistently that is now prevalent with pass interference calls.

I hate the way the illegal contact / holding on DBs is called. The WRs run into the DBs in their breaks, so the DB is forced to make contact with them and the flag is thrown. The offensive player initiates the contact just as much as the DBs do. They should be called for it as well.

Damn near impossible to play DB now a days.

I absolutely hate the spot foul rule. It's insane to me you can get a 50+ yard penalty.

15 yards. Spot foul implies certainty that the catch would have been made, which I don't like.

I kinda like the idea of just having a bigger cap in the NFL.

Why should the auto yardage be 15? In the NFL, for a 50 yard bomb play, we can make it a 25 yard penalty and split the baby instead of having these 50 yard penalties.

I think that's an OK solution.

15 yards or half the distance to the goal.
