You clearly have not watched any NFL games this season.

I can count on two hands easily some GREAT games that went down to the wire.

I personally think the NBA handles it's cap the best way. A hard cap penalizes a team for doing too well, no cap makes it impossible for big money teams to be reigned in. The NBA soft cap gives the best balance

Definitely not. Parity is what keeps fans caring about the sport. If your team is bad in a league like the NBA where 9/10 draft picks bust and every team can offer stars the exact same contract, there is no hope for ever succeeding other than some lucky as frick draft pick landing.

Same problem with CFB (y'all gonna downvote me for this, but it's true. Only reason no one on this board will acknowledge is because we're all "in the circle" and benefit from the lack of parity). There is NO reason to root for 100ish colleges because they'll never be anything ever again.

The way the NBA handles it's caps is nowhere near as big of a cause towards the lack of parity in the NBA as much as just the inherent nature of a sport that can be so dominated by one player

The NFL has been fine this year. Let's not act like CFB is this incredible product

College is playing for a lot more bragging rights. Realignment has messed this up some.
College teams have real rivalries with a lot more history and a lot more fan interaction off-line.

How are nfl fans suppose to truly hate another fanbase when you can go a lifetime with out meeting with a fan. Everyone who works in an office is dealing with several grads from schools they play every year

Very true. That's why it will always be #2 in American Sports.

Not enough people get excited about the thought of their team have literally no shot at the Finals.

Like the NBA may pump out amazing playoffs, but the regular season is an absolute dump.

However, I am a Pelicans fan so I will always be bitter toward the NBA

I feel like this argument would have held more water around 10 years ago. Now the problem is all super-teams. You could have MJ in the league now with a mediocre team around him and he would still get spanked by teams like the Warriors and LBJ-era-heat.

What you're saying is definitely a factor, but it would still be significantly better with a hard cap & no max contracts (OR a star cap... Yep I was that guy ).

Get rid of NBA guaranteed contracts.

Saves teams from stupid GM's.

I still watched the games even though the Saints sucked. I watched for the big hits and drama. Nothing better than seeing the teams duke it out in the trenches.

Now everyone gets butt hurt over a big hit and screams for 15 yards. It’s not the same game. That’s the problem.

But that only gets you so far, imo. Go to a bar like Kirby ice house and you’ll have 12 different fanbases watching their games. You don’t get that with any professional sports.

I do love the collective party like Houston had Saturday night but they are different.

and the soft cap has very little to do with these forming. To get the players to make a super team, these teams either built through the draft or had to deal with a hard cap situation when trying to get outside talent. The soft cap keeps your own players on your team

I personally enjoy watching the giants and Celtics lose because I get to see their fans melt on the internet. I really think the notion that pro sport fans dont get to interact with other fanbases is really offbase. Hell, i barely interact with any SEC fans in real life. But I still get entertainment out of seeing Tennessee lose. Cause I interact with them here
