NCSU was 7-5 in the awful ACC. Losing to them rightly took FSU on of any NC consideration.

What do those have to do with a list of impressive non-conference wins? He didn't forget to list shite, he listed everything that was pertinent to the statement he made.
Good to see the sarcasm filters are working this morning. If we are going to brag about a couple of wins by SEC bottom feeders, we should also mention a couple of bad losses and I throw in some "bad" for want of a better term, wins. Funny that we will count ASU as a good win for an SEC team, but not for Pac-12 teams and SEC fans generally would destroy (pick a team from another conference) for a game like UF-ULL or LSU-Towson.

The SEC is 48-8 OOC.
The top three conferences in percentage of OOC games played at home?
1. SEC
2. Big Ten
3. Big 12
Of the SEC’s 56 non-conference games, 26.8 percent were against FCS lower-division teams. Texas A&M played TWO. All 14 teams played one Division I-AA foe.
The SEC’s big non-conference games? Five. Alabama-Michigan, Florida-Florida State, Ole Miss-Texas and two Clemson games — Auburn and South Carolina.
Of the nine true road games, four were against mid-majors — Mississippi State at Troy, Missouri at Central Florida and Texas A&M at both Louisiana Tech and SMU.
BCS Opponents:
Pac 12: Arizona State, Washington
Big East: Syracuse, Louisville, Rutgers
ACC: Clemson, Florida State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, NC State
Big 10: Michigan, Northwestern
Big 12: Texas
The rent-a-wins:
Southeastern Louisiana, Central Florida, East Carolina, Alabama-Birmingham, Wofford, Bowling Green, Louisiana-Lafayette, Jacksonville State, Western Kentucky; Florida Atlantic, Western Carolina, Central Arkansas, Texas-El Paso, Tulane, Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico State, Alabama A&M, Presbyterian, Massachusetts, Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Akron, Troy, North Texas, Idaho, Towson, Kent State, Western Kentucky, Samford, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech, SMU, South Carolina State, Sam Houston State, Jackson State, Troy, South Alabama, Middle Tennessee.
That's an embarrassment for any conference and ruining college football.

It's amazing that only the SEC is playing lower level 1A and 1AA teams. Oh wait.
Posted on 11/25/12 at 12:10 pm to Zamoro10
I don't think anyone should be allowed to play 1AA teams or at least limit it to once every 4 or 5 years.

Yes, the SEC doesn't have the depth top to bottom of some years with Tennessee, Auburn and Arkansas all having bad years. Yes, that lends itself to some unbalanced schedules for teams that play those teams. So, yes, it's a down year in some regard for the SEC in terms of top to bottom depth.
However, the top 5 and probably 6 teams in the SEC would likely either be favored or pick 'em games on a neutral site against any other team in the country.
If any other conference had a year like that, the hardcore anti-SEC posters on this site would never let the board hear the end of it.

where do you get this shite from?
Oregon would be favored over every SEC team but 1.
Stanford would be favored over every SEC team but 2-3.
ND would be favored over all but 2 or 3.

There are 6 SEC teams that would beat Notre Dame.

Oregon wouldn't be favored on a neutral field over Alabama, UF, UGA, or the team that most recently raped them LSU

you're just talking out of your arse, you have no idea how ND would do against SEC teams

I know that would lose to at least 6 teams.

Just because they took your manhood last night doesn't mean they would beat LSU, Bama, A&M, Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina.

Not sure Stanford would be favored over LSU or Florida or Texas A&M or South Carolina on a neutral site, for example, and I'm a pretty objective poster.
ND has had a great season but they were only, what +3, against unranked USC with a freshman QB in his first start? Not to take anything away from their deserved credit, seriously they are good, but I'm not sure the oddsmakers that chose that line are not going to have them at much better than pick'em against an actual Top10 teams like LSU.
However, even if you were to convince me about all 3 teams you chose from all the other conferences combined, the point still stands.
The SEC has 6 teams that are solidly among the top 10 to 12 in the country and I can only imagine how giddily some posters would celebrate that as being one the best years ever if it were the case in another conference.

Not according to the people that set the lines. Only Bama would be favored over Oregon. What happened last year with different teams is not relevant.

We'll find out if they lose to 1, but the 1 they get to play is one of the 2 SEC teams with the easiest SEC schedule. I see no rational reason to think they would have no chance against the top 6 SEC teams let alone anyone below that.
Bama looks like the best team in the SEC, but they only played 2 good teams and lost one, struggled with the other. UGA got blown out in 1 game and struggled with a garbage UK. Florida before yesterday, really didn't set the world on fire in many of there wins, including a close scrape with ULL. I know most SEC fans would kill any non SEC team for a game like that. LSU struggled with 3 crappy SEC teams and for good measure an FCS team. Again, what would the avg SEC fan say if ND or Oregon beat Towson 38-22? A&M is the flavor of the month because they beat Bama have the likely Heisman winner. Lets not forget that just a few month's ago, the avg SEC fan was on here saying they could never compete in the SEC and that their offense would never work against SEC defenses, let alone the best SEC D. Still they struggled with La Tech and OM.
Yeas, the SEC is the best conference and yes any 1 of 6 SEC teams could probably beat anyone. But all have shown flaws and struggled in games that SEC fans would use against non SEC teams. Notre Dame could lose to any, but they could also lose to any.

We should have most games at home. Why not? We have the best fans and the most money so we can afford paying schools to come to us.

So you're saying we played about 75% against FBS teams? Seems about right. It evens out to each SEC team playing one FCS team and one BCS AQ team. Texas A&M was supposed to play Arkansas numbnuts. When they joined the SEC, they had no other option than an FCS school.

Give me any conference with better wins than the SEC.
And since when are Kent State and La Tech 'rent-a-wins'? They are both ranked. Shoot, even Troy, ECU, and Southern Miss are usually very quality opponents and have risen up to be giant killers. EVERY conference plays these teams. It's not ruining college football baby
