Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon will be suspended for the Sooners' game against Iowa State on Thursday.

His attorney, Blake Johnson, explained the interaction that led to the suspension.

Via NewsOK.com:

At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Mixon was given a parking citation on the north oval, said his attorney, Blake Johnson.

“He was frustrated, as most of us are when we get a ticket,” Johnson said. “He tore the ticket up in front of the parking attendant, and threw it on the ground.”

Later that afternoon, at 1:30 p.m., Johnson said the parking attendant filed a complaint with OUPD.

“We are very confident that Joe did nothing criminal,” Johnson said.

“He's been suspended for this Thursday's game, and he understands and accepts that.”

"OU sets very high standards and they must be met by all of our student-athletes," Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said in a statement.

Perine is also still out due to an injury. OU could be on upset alert.

It's a shame he's even on the team after breaking a girls face with his fist.

Good thing for that parking cop this happened in the afternoon in a parking lot instead of late night at Pickleman's Gourmet Cafe

Or maybe the parking attendant was a man.

We were a finalist for him, and probably not a terrible thing we didn't get him, because the guy has issues. I don't mind seeing him largely sit the bench behind Perine.

Same goes for Antonio Williams. But him simply because he broke up with us in an instant, the second that snake oil salesman in Columbus cast his spell.

have you watched any OU games? he doesn't largely sit the bench behind perine.

you are probably right about him having issues though. he knows he had an EXTREMELY short leash, and then goes and does something like this. ripping up a parking ticket and throwing it on the ground in front of the meter maid is hardly a big deal if its an isolated incident, but it isn't with joe. he should know better.

And yet, he's still on the team.

It is laughable. The guy punched a woman and broke bones in her face. He's still on the team. That makes any statements they make like this completely laughable. He shouldn't be on a short leash. He should be in jail.

The nearly three-minute long silent surveillance tape from inside the eatery was played Thursday morning for a group of around 40 media members after multiple outlets requested the footage through an open-records request. Police refused to release copies of the video — at least until Nov. 1, when the state’s open records laws change to explicitly say that copies must be provided — but staged a showing of the footage at the Norman Investigations Center.

So has it been released?

Um, no not an oSu fan. And yes, he should have been off the team in the first place. Since they did keep him around, I would think a no tolerance policy would make sense. But he's really good at football, so he's still at OU.

sorry, had to ask. saw you are in edmond (i'm originally from edmond) and figured with your location and attitude towards this situation you may be an OSU fan.
