A young Mayweather could but his hands are too fragile these days. He isn't really a threat to knock anyone out.

Every boxer deals with hand issues as they age, and Mayweather is no different. But unless his right hand is outright broken, he can knock out Mcgregor.

McGregor is a younger and stronger dude. He'll be a bit different and awkward to fight at first. I don't see why Mayweather would risk a lucky punch by being too aggressive and going for a knockout. He'll just feel him out and out point him.

Well, he'll certainly outpoint him....until he knocks him out within 3 rounds.

what a little bitch.

As someone who couldn't give a frick about either boxing, MMA/UFC, Mayweather, or McGregor I would still gladly pay $100 to watch those two fight each other.

The problem with this fight is that Maywearher also forgot years ago that boxing is entertainment. McGregor won't lay a hand on him for 10 rounds. This will Mayweather's most boring fight and that's saying something.

Mayweather is going to possibly kill McGregor in the ring if McGregor actually tries to engage Mayweather

I doubt Mayweather takes this fight seriously, so CM might get to hang around for a few rounds to try and get acclimated with using boxing gloves. If Floyd tries even a little bit, CM will get arse raped.

I could be wrong because I read a little bit about MMA and don't watch it, but aren't the gloves a lot different between the 2 sports?

Yes gloves are very different, but he trains with boxing gloves for every MMA fight and he will be training 100% boxing for this fight. He is already well acquainted with the gloves, it's the fighter that will give him problems.

I think you're wrong here. Conor is insane enough and lacking in respect for Mayweather than he's going to just rush in, and Mayweather will drop him multiple times. People will finally see why professional boxers don't just rush in vs him. If he's knocked down fewer than 5 times I would be shocked. Originally said 10 but that is a lot.

Have you ever watched mcgregor fight? He is not a brawler.

I see this fight being similar to when a totally washed up Tyson just annihilated the Black Rhino...2 totally different skill levels.

I'll keep replying with the same variation on the theme as long as people keep posting variations on the above theme.

In sum: yes, Floyd Mayweather is a defense-oriented fighter when going against other top-notch professional boxers, and yes, this results in scoring points more than knocking opponents out. BUT MCGREGOR IS NOWHERE TO CLOSE TO BEING AT THAT LEVEL AS A BOXER AND WOULDN'T BE IF HE DEVOTED THE NEXT FIVE YEARS TO THE CRAFT!.

It matters nary a smidgeon whether FM comes into that fight with the mindset to knock him out or outpoint him. He will knock him out either way. He will have no trouble hitting him at will. It will not be a competitive contest.

This fight is comparable to the Kimbo fight vs Seth Petruzelli. One was a very accomplished street fighter. The other was a real fighter in the discipline they were actually fighting in.

I hate MM but this is no different than thinking Jordan could be an MLB outfielder. Totally different sports.

BTW- if this was MMA the exact same applies to CM over MM
