Meh. It's not a waste really. Its a great way to honor the best player in your schools history and Phil knight donated most of it anyway. Oregon topped the athletic revenues list last year by a big margin.

People will say what they will because it's fun to make fun of Oregon, but Oregon has successfully turned themselves into National contenders mainly because of stuff like this.
They don't have many advantages when it comes to recruiting and history and whatnot, but they have a sugar daddy and they take advantage of it.

Absolutely!
We need stuff like this and its still hard to recruit to Oregon from certain parts of the nation, especially the south/east.
People hate on it, but if it was their school they would change their tune for sure.

There's no rules in CFB, as many top schools have proved over the years...including current top dog (hell, we have a thread on MSB, is Alabama Suspension U?)
If Alabama had the money of Nike, they'd create a Disneyland/Dollywood Park as their football facility.
There isn't a school in the country that wouldn't run with Nike money and go over the top.
I kind of think Oregon has gone Star Wars but I don't blame them when their history sucked. You have to use any advantage.
CFB doesn't want you using Nike money, Saban doesn't want you using the HUHN.
There are no rules in CFB. Everyone does everything for their own advantage.

You gotta do what you gotta do. I can only imagine if we had a recruiting base like a lot of schools in the SEC have. That Plus Uncle Phil cash wouldn't even be fair.
