The US will be the #1 seed in the playoffs if Sweden beats Finland or Finland wins in OT or a shootout.

If Finland wins in regulation, Finland will be the #1 seed. The US will be #2.

And if Canada beats Germany next, they play Russia in the quarterfinals.

Nobody cares about Finland and Sweden. If the U.S., Canada and Russia aren't playing, I'm not interested.

This game is actually huge.

I'd rather not be on Russia and Canada's side of the bracket in the playoffs. Getting the #2 seed would put us there.

The #1 seed would put us on the other side.

Go Sweden.

You do realize there are other posters on this Board than yourself, right? And the OP & myself care so hell, there's at least two right there.

I stayed up the other night to watch Slovakia-Russia, and it was a great decision. It was a phenomenal game. Finland and Sweden hate each other, so this should be fiya.

Serious question why does Norway suck at hockey compared the Sweden and the Fins?

This is a huge game. Finland and Sweden are elite teams and hate each other. Finland has been especially impressive so far. Coming into the tournament, I thought that 7 teams could legitimately contend for a medal (Fin, SWE, Slov, Cze, Rus, Can, U.S.). The Swiss are a clear step down from those IMO (even with the game against Canada). So it'd be a big deal to get to play them again in the quarters as opposed to facing one of those other teams.

Completely agree. The #1 seed is going to the semis. I mean, even with the Swiss' great game against Canada, they still lost. Every other top seed will have to play a really top tier team. It's a 7 team tourney, really.

The good news is, Sweden should beat Finland. Rematch of last Olympics' gold medal game, but Sweden is a consistent winner of these tourneys. They were my pre-Olympic pick. Never sleep on the Swedes. They are so deep at center and they have a great goalie.

I think Finland has the slight edge actually and picked them to win the group, but I hope I'm wrong. Finland has been killing it on the power play (6 of 12) and they've just rolled through the first two games. But I have a hard time seeing this as anything other than a close game given the rivalry and talent.
