this is WAY beyond just a coach possibly calling up an escort for himself

a. he's the face of the Ole Miss football program. standards are different for him than normal people

however, even this is not really enough and he could have survived the issue, BUT

b. his program is currently under NCAA investigation. your leash is so short in this situation that you effectively have no leash. if these calls in any way could be linked to recruits (the center of the NCAA investigation) and Ole Miss doesn't take action, they could legit face the death penalty

I think the Ole Miss administration has been snooping around and trying to find something to fire Freeze that wouldn't get the football program in trouble too. He could've been fired anytime in the past month or so and it wouldn't have surprised many people. Ole Miss needed to get rid of HF to take some of the heat of with the investigations. The calls occurred in Jan of 2016 so why are they just now looking back into the phone records? Because they needed to find a a transgression worth firing Freeze for. Ole Miss is playing this very political to try and keep their joke of a football program swimming and so far Hugh Freeze is the scapegoat.

It is because the UM Admin missed it in their investigation. These calls were recently found by an attorney for Houston Nutt as part of the discovery phase in his lawsuit against UM.

Well if he was buying hookers for recruits, we are entering very dangerous territory considering plenty of recruits aren't even 18 years old

I thought the law suit against Freeze/OM was for slander and blaming shite on Nutt. Was the attorney allowed to report any wrong doings of Freeze even if it wasn't related to the law suit?

He filed an Open Records Request and received the call records from Hugh Freeze's state provided cell phone

The lawyer's staff then checked each number thoroughly looking for dirt that would cause UM to want to settle quickly.

Once they found this and presumably other juicy tidbits, they leaked the records to USA Today.

I'm assuming the strategy is that UM will now want to "put all of this matter behind us" and settle with Nutt at a higher price.

That's a HUGE part of this story which will be under-reported.

If Hugh Freeze is found to have provided hookers to minors, he has more than likely violated sex trafficking laws as well as child endangerment laws. Meaning his entire career is DONE. He couldn't even work at the high school level due to most states having laws banning employees with those types of crimes on their records from working with children.

Art Briles has a better chance of being hired as a coach than HF does at the moment.

are you really this stupid

I'm capable of stupidity, sure, but in this case, I think I'm dead on.

Nothing illegal about calling an escort service at 2am from your hotel room and hanging up. We've all done it. Although some do not hang up right away, and some actually go all the way through. Kudos to those folks, I have more to lose.

I do not think he lost his job because of this incident. I think it had more to do with the upcoming sanctions facing Ole Miss.

Also, the fact that he resigned is irrelevant because, as many have stated, he would have been fired had he not resigned.

Freeze should have absorbed the embarrassment and got ready for Memphis on Sep 2.

Let's slow down here. That has to be proven first. He's nowhere near Briles territory yet.

I have my doubts now that he used it for recruits, mainly because there are hundreds of hot arse girls that go to OM that will gladly frick a recruit on a visit to help the football team. Just like Oklahoma state.

Google tells me that if they are under 18 in florida but the other person is under 23 its all good.

BTW Shea Pattersons bday is 1/17 and the hooker call was placed btw 1/19 and 1/21. Conincidence.....I dont think so
