Isn't Lackey retiring?

Jason Heyward will get a 7-8 year 21-22m a year contract from someone....

there is rumors out of Chicago, that the Cubs would be interested in a 2 year deal for him.

Heyward will get paid, will he take a little less to stay??? Possible

Lackey has shown no indication of retiring, the only chance we have at Heyward is if he takes a discount IMO

We don't really do $200 million contracts especially with the young OF talent we have, only difference is most guys who get these contracts are ~30 and he's 26 so maybe they'll splurge for him but I still doubt it

if by less you mean a couple million a year then possible... A team could come and offer him 8 years 170 million and Cards 8 for 160 and he could take it, but he would take anything less than 20m I believe.

If we ditch Moss I think that all but confirms my thoughts that Piscotty is full time 1B, and they then keep Adams because he's so cheap, as the power bench bat that Moss was and platoon 1B in certain matchups where Piscotty can also move to OF like Moss. That seems most logical for sure.

Carpenter 3B
Piscotty 1B
Holliday LF
Heyward RF
Peralta SS
Grichuk CF
Molina C
Wong 2B
Wainwright P

If it were me, that's my opening day lineup.

Re-sign Lackey with Garcia's money, sign 2-3 bullpen arms one of which is high caliber, new lefty specialist to replace Choate, a playable backup SS so Peralta doesn't wear out when it matters most cuz Kozma is finally gone thank the lord!

Stay healthy, best team in baseball again.

Yep. A Piscotty/Bubba platoon at first has been my theory for awhile now, Piscotty will be in the OF when Bubba is on first

#STLCards exercise 2016 option on Jaime Garcia, decline option on Jonathan Broxton. Kozma, Easley & Tartamella outrighted off 40-man roster

Odds Garcia lasts the season? I'm going slim and we have to trade for a SP. Now to sign JHey and a decent backup SS.

Easley is going to look elsewhere and supposedly if he can't find something he likes we are saving a spot for him........but who knows how that will go

Is this just done to get more draft picks? I don't see another reason to potentially offend the guys with those offers, if we're interested in bringing them back. Which I assume we are with Heyward and possibly are with Lackey.

Did hear that they may shop Lynn for a trade this morning on the radio.

I haven't heard anything about trading Lynn. It's possible I suppose but doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me as we are gonna need him for depth considering I think it's unlikely we resign Lackey and we all know that Garcia can get hurt at any time

As far as QOs yea they are just offered as a formality to ensure we get a compensation draft pick in the case where we lose the player to free agency

FYI QOs were started in 2011 and to date ZERO have actually been accepted

are you sure Lackey got a QO?

i was told when he came to Cardinals from sox, part of the agreement was that the cards wouldnt make a QO on him in 2015/16, and he would play out the 500K option in the contract.

I've heard about that rumored agreement as well but according to ESPN and other sources we offered him a QO so I'm fairly confident we did

Cannot wait for Alex Reyes to get to the Majors.

Top pitcher prospect in MLB, they had an article on him in baseball america i believe, and they mention when he pitched in Arizona Fall League, that he drew the attention of every scout who was watching the league.

They say his stuff is nasty 98-99mph fastball. MEntioned how scouts just marvel at his stuff, and he's still not polished, walks too many, but is getting more control of his command.

this is how you stay relevant year after year, developing latin american talent and drafting for value.
