That was an electric weigh in.

Garcia-Matthysse will be epic. That's the "don't blink" fight as some say.

I can't wait for tomorrow night.

admittedly i don't really follow boxing, so can someone who does kinda break down canelo for me? i know he's a knockout/power kind of guy from watching his highlights but how much of a chance does he really have against floyd?

Puncher's chance because of his power. But he's never seen anything like he will see with money. Also, money made him drop to a catchweight to frick with his head a bit. I don't think he'll land too many punches. Money took the fight because he knows canelo is too inexperienced to beat him at this point in his career.

quote:

LAS VEGAS -- The verbal sparring between the camps for Canelo Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather escalated this week when Alvarez admitted that he had no intention of fighting under a catchweight but it was the only way he could gain entry into the blockbuster fight.

Money knows what he's doing.

If Canelo has any chance of winning he has to go for the KO early, although he's said he doesn't think he needs a KO to win. Look for Canelo to possibly win 2 of the first 3 rounds. After that you will see Floyd adjust and break Canelo down slowly and start landing punches at will and Canelo will begin to miss on his punches.

Canelo is the naturally bigger guy and will be a lot bigger than Floyd at fight time. He does not posses the speed or defense that Floyd has.

Also worth note is that Canelo has been known to cut easily, so a late round stoppage is not out of the question

Canelo is gonna get schooled badly. I also think the 2lbs will have an impact. For a fighter that blows up the way he does, he struggles to make 154 and those additional lbs make a difference.

Canelo's best opponent was Trout and I thought Trout beat him even with the knockdown. Those one sided scorecards were ridiculous.

I just hope the Golden Boy fix isn't in. Two of the judges are known for causing major bullshite with their "scoring"

His only chance is to wear Money down with his size and power. Mayweather will likely be less than 155 for the fight and Alvarez will be 165-170. Don't bet the farm on Alvarez. He's struggled at times against a couple of far lesser opponents than Floyd recently. Didn't look all that hot against Alfonso Gomez. But it's a win-win for him. Guaranteed 15 million +. He may never see that kind of money again.

I don't see Mayweather stopping Alvarez and if it goes the distance it will go to Mayweather. If Alvarez can't hurt Money by the 6th round, it's over IMHO.

Floyd Sr has been very open about how Canelo's size difference on fight night gives him a big advantage. Floyd will NOT put himself in any danger. He will be in defensive mode and take Canelo off his game. He knows Canelo is big and he knows about his hard punches. He won't lean on the ropes like the did with Cotto.

The first four rounds will be close or at least competitive. After that Floyd will make his adjustment and it's blowout city from that point on.

That's what makes this interesting for me. May loves to fight on the ropes but knows he can't hang there very long against a guy with Canelo's power.

I like May purely on Canelo's inexperience, although I really liked the way Canelo fought in the Trout fight from a strategy perspective.

Did anyone catch Angel Garcia's rant yesterday at the press conference? I laughed the whole time.

This fight will be like every other FMay fight. His opp will look good for 2 of the first 3 rounds. THEN Floyd settles in and starts landing 70% of his punches while Alvarez starts to hit Floyd's shoulders. Floyd is the best defensive fighter of all time. I've seen ever one of his fights and he has been hit solid about 50 times. Alvarez does have a punchers chance and will outweigh Floyd by 15 at the start of the fight. That's can be a detriment as well though.

Maybe it's wishful thinking. But I have a vision in my mind of how it will end. Have to go with the vision.

I haven't bet against May in a long time.

Unless he pulls a RJJ it ain't happening. It's exciting though. Haven't been this pumped for a fight since Pacquiao-Cotto four years ago.

I don't follow boxing at all and I'm tempted to order this fight. I think it's going to be a great one

I don't even know which fight I'm more looking forward to. They're probably the two best fights that could possibly be made, and they're on the same card!
