Haven't been following this as much this year, but just looked at the stage profiles and I'll be be watching Saturday and Sunday, those stages look like they'll be fun as shite.

Pyrenees mountains... 1st battle of the GC contenders

If Cav wants the green he needs to start taking the intermediate sprints seriously

Needs to chip away at the points where ever possible because Sagan is prime for too many extra stages

I couldn't believe they were letting Majka get 14 minutes up the road until I realized he was already 18 minutes back. How did that happen? Dragging Contador around after crashes?

A Fredric Weis sighting. That is a large individual. Packed on the pounds since the Vince Carter days.

It was a fun stage to watch today, I say that BMC keeps yellow tomorrow with it looking like a sprint finish, but will probably lose it to the GC contenders either on Friday or Saturday with the race headed to the Pyrenees.

Contador better heal up quick if he wants to podium, there could be some big time gaps this weekend if he performs like he did today.

They will defend it to a certain degree but they won't waste a lot of energy doing so.

Contador is reeling from his crashes. I look for him to try something over the weekend to try and gain back some time. A few years ago, he won the Vuelta on a 60km solo attack in 18th or 19th stage. Truly epic ride. I hope we see him light it up. I'd love to see Froome, Quintana, and AC all within a min of each other going in to the Alps.

Oh you mean like the whole peleton was doing?

I mean his contaminated steak theory was bad, but it was at least a good story and effort.

Nice to see a Purito sighting

Set to retire at the end of the season, bet interesting if he goes for stage wins or GC. I backed him to come top 10, but would be happy if he got a stage as a send off

I'd be shocked if they let the breakaway stay away tomorrow, Lotto and Griepel especially will be keen to give him another shot

BMC's Greg van Avermaet took the 1st real mountain stage of the tour... also put him in yellow and BMC (an American team) atop the team standings

up next... a kinda lumpy stage that should be no problem for the sprinters and perhaps allow 1 last good sprint finish before the Pyrenees Mountains...

118 miles from Arpajon-sur-Cere to Montauban

I think GVA keeps yellow easily tomorrow... in fact I'll say he keeps it until Tormalet on Saturday... though he could very easily lose it Friday

and Contador's done... he's lost too much time

Who won today's stage and any movement in the standings?

TdF is blocked at this office.

Cav beat Kittel in a sprint, no need for a photo finish this time, was a bit of a messy finish Ettix didn't come to the front until under 1k but Cav hopped on his wheel(could barely see him ) then went round

Newbie Brit Daniel McLade followed up some top 10 finishes with a 3rd

Griepel again was nowhere and I think Sagan got 6th

The post race interview with the Tinkoff dude was interesting. He ripped on UCI and said they should be out of pro cycling. He advocated an American business takeover because the French, Italians, and Spanish don't have the proper business sense to operate it. This is all coming from a Russian.

The weekend looks interesting.

Tinkov is spitting his dummy out now he is leaving the sport
He has spent millions on trying to build a super team but in reality he has Sagan and Contador.
Kreuziger ignoring orders to wait for Contador shows that the team embodies their owner...that getting in the newspaper/looking after yourself is more important than the team

Yeah I kinda got caught up in last night's breaking news to update this... Cav won stage 6 and retook the green jersey

the Pyrenees are here... and the climbers are right now going up the cat. 1 Col d'Aspin

van Avermaet has apparently cracked going up it... so we'll see if he can stay in yellow
