Cards are going to be very interesting now. They gave up their 1st for Fowler so they can sign anyone now.

Nice try, St. Louis. Still not scary.

Good for Fowler, though.

lol. the only scary team in baseball is Boston. St Louis, though, will be much better than last year.

Eh,The idea is for him to help mold Randal into CF. Then move Dex to left in 2-3 years.

Such as?

I find the qualifying offer was such a weird thing to fight over, how many players has it negatively affected, maybe 5-10?

The luxury tax penalties are much more punitive once you go over by 20 million.

The international pool has a hard cap which means bonuses will be very small compared to before and age for amateurs was raised to 25.

Manfred was given a Goodell esque power when it comes to players accused of DV

The luxury tax threshold increases only 21 million over the life of the deal which isn't in line with revenue increase.

The Sox are hardly scary. I don't think they win the East.

You're wearing a flatbill Yankees cap at this very second, aren't you?

I wear a Yankees cap but not a flatbill, and I have learned that things aren't always what they seem on paper. I have been involved with baseball long before you little boys were pooping your diapers.

Red Sox look good on paper but they do have questions that could derail the hype...
- What will Panda do?
- Can Pedroia produce a 5.6 WAR again (was injured an 2.0 the year before, was a 4.9 before though)
- Will Betts/Boegarts take that next step/will they fall back
- Will Porcello regress or was last year a sign of things to come
- Will Price pitch like he did last year
- Who plays 3rd? Holt or Panda
- who replaces Papi as the heart of the team
- Is Leon the player we saw last year or the player from previous year?

On paper this is the best team in the AL imo. However, we've seen "super" teams falter time after time. The Nationals just two years ago after acquiring Max are a good example.

Yes every team has questions still. I'm still curious about what Toronto will do on offense, they may bring EE and Bautista back at a discounted rate. Maybe they can make a play for another pitcher (Quintana from the Sox?)

I mean Boegarts has won back to back silver sluggers and Betts was just runner up for the MVP

Porcello, Bradley, and Benitendi control the fate of that team. Can Porcello and Bradley perform like they did last season and can Benitendi help offset the production loss of Papi

Well Xander improved from 7 home runs to 21 despite dropping a bit of average everything else stayed steady. So does he bring that back up and improve or have we seen the best he has to offer?

Betts you never know we saw Harper take a dramatic downward turn from a 10+ WAR to a 2.0 WAR so could it happen with him?

Those are all legitimate questions. Every team in baseball will have a fair share of these types of questions. (Maybe not applicable to the Cubs)... But asking those types of questions and declaring "The sox don't scare anyone." Is a very long drive down fantasyland lane.

Sox are the front runners/ favorites in the AL this year, and it really isn't close.

Those aren't legitimate questions outside of how they replace papi.
