He needs to improve big time for him to opt out. His first year was trash

Cardinals have Fowler coming in for a physical.

Absolutely moronic move that will appease the surface level thinkers.

Going to be an overpay in years and money.

Cubs are laughing all the way to the bank with a free first round pick from their division rival

fricking stupid.

He gets up to a 3+ WAR player over next two years then it benefits him to opt out.

He was at 6 previous two years, 1.8 last year.

He's got 2 consecutive opt outs. Can be 3/65 or 4/88.

Would be 3/78 or 4/98, if he opts out.

Something probably happens with Jansen today.

I don't get this Miami closer thing. Loria is a maniac.

I like the Fowler signing quite a bit. Improves OF defense, allows Carp to slide back in the lineup, gives less reason to put Tommy Pham on the field. It's a win-win-win, without even accounting for "stealing" him from the Cubs, which I know is only somewhat impactful since they're just going to replace him with some top prospect or something, whatever who cares, let me be happy.

I think Fowler is the guy that was talked about as having a delayed aging curve since he started playing baseball relatively late in life (relative to other big leaguers), and he's a great athlete.

Still don't like that Peralta is listed as the starter at 3B. Or Wong at 2B. I'd like Gyorko at either (more at 2B) and then trade for a 3B. I wonder if anyone wants 3/4 of a mediocre infield (Adams, Wong, Peralta) for an above average 3B?

It makes zero sense. He probably watched a few playoff games where Miller dominated and decided he wanted one. The chances of Jansen playing out that contract in Miami if he signs there are 0

Fish have a young core of hitters. They had an ace with a serviceable back of the rotation guys. I thought losing Fernandez would make them rethink their position. The closer they had last year was pretty good.

Possible STL lineup: CF Fowler, SS Diaz, 1B Carpenter, RF Piscotty, C Molina, 3B Peralta, LF Grichuk, 2B Wong

To be completely honest, if I'm CHC (or even LAD, SF or WSH), that lineup doesn't scare me. I still don't think the Cards compete at those teams' level next year.

Thats fine. I do..

Cards should have 3 pitchers with an era of 3.15 or lower.

We solved the issue with defense/Cf.

And I believe we're not done, one more decent or big move will happen.
