Odds say the US will host the Summer Olympic Games in 2024, first since Atlanta 96

2024 Summer games
With Budapest dropping out, it's a two team race between Los Angeles, California and Paris, France.
With growing concerns about safety in France, Los Angeles's bid is looking better and better especially since, thanks to UCLA, USC and having MLS, NBA, MLB and now NFL facilities, L.A. will hardly need to build much at all, allowing for greater profit for the IOC.
The last time the US hosted the summer games was in 1996 when the Deep South welcomed the world to football country, upsetting Athens, Greece for the centennial games. While Atlanta was the host city, events took place as far away as Athens, Savannah, Birmingham Miami, Virginia and Tennessee.
The USA dominated the medal stand as Russia and the former USSR republics competed independently for the first time. Americans won 101 medals in total (second place Russia won 63) and took home 44 gold (Russia with 26).
Trivia:
The Nation of Georgia got a rousing welcome during the parade of nation from the Atlanta crowd.
Women's soccer was first competed in Atlanta 96, with the US winning gold.
When Americans beat Russia in gymnastics (sealed by Kerri Strugg's famous one foot vault), it was the US's first gold medal EVER in gymnastics at a fully attended Olympics.
Swimmer Amy Van Dyken became the first American woman to win four titles in a single Olympics
Atlanta was the first Olympics ever that not a single nation swept all three medals in a single event.

The Olympics still need to go on a set rotation of host cities that get the games instead of breaking the bank of countries that don't have the facilities or infrastructure needed to host an international event like this.

Does LA have plans for a mass transit system? I thought that's always been very
Important to the IOC, and I don't see how with their traffic issues people would get around to all the events?
Also, I honestly don't really see the current Muslim issue as scaring off the IOC from Paris. They are liberal as hell and will probably assume that they can have the problem dealt with that far away.

This going to get downvotes...
But Chicago is probably the best city in US for an Olympics. So many possibilities other than needing to address the need for a track and field stadium.

Given its history, there is no better city to host it than L.A.

The olympics will start going only to countries that can afford the infrastructure changes, which will limit it to only a few options.
In the US, I would like to see it at someplace different, such as Dallas or Nashville.

May as well be Mexico by 2024, frick LA
I don't even particularly want the US hosting the Olympics, but they could have it in Chicago, which is amazing in the summer.

A few years ago I told a lifelong LA resident they had a subway.
His reaction was pretty funny. He had no idea.

Wish I was a couple years older when the Olympics came to Birmingham. I went to a soccer match at Legion but barely remember it.

LA is the best city in the world for the Olympics. One of the few where it's an economic winner.

I'm surprised Toronto never put in a bid for the 2024 games.

LA is one of the few cities in the entire world where it makes economic sense to host something like this

Paris still has a good chance because it would mark the 100th anniversary from the last time they hosted the Olympics.
If Qatar can host the World Cup, Paris can host the Olympics.

Boston was originally selected to be the USA bid, but it dropped out. Los Angeles was the only city with an Olympic stadium, all the other venues, and other shite need to put together a bid on short notice.
