Dude was an automatic 9-10 wins.

And take a look at post-Pelini. He was better than Callahan as well.

Just a terrible move.

Sounds an awful lot like a certain SEC school. Run off a 9-win coach and hire a buffoon...

he was a hot head but always had solid teams

I am confused as well

From what I heard the administration didn't Get along with Bo

Nebraska needs to be a perfect example of what happens when you run off successful coaches and hire unknown/unqualified ones

By beating Florida and Auburn, O has already bested Riley’s first year. Nebraska upset MSU that year but lost to basically every other Big 10 team with a pulse.

Rumor has it, Pelini was boning the wife of Nebraska's biggest booster.

Everybody wants Saban and Meyer and it's stupid. There is nothing wrong with 9-3 football at most schools. That said, I think he had some bad blowouts and people were upset that this supposedly defensive minded guy got torched a lot.

I don't think it was Bo.

I heard it was his brother and the boosters daughter. There is a picture of her floating around somewhere.

ETA: Maybe it was the wife. It was definitely Carl Pelini and not Bo though, not that it matters.

Because he reflected poorly on the University.

Nebraska likes to pretend they are noble statesmen and the best fans who hug opposing fans in congratulations if Nebraska loses.

Dr. Tom - that stoic myth of a Professor who just happens to coach football on the side...

The mythologoy of the walk-on policy...we just play people who want to play...we don't shady recruit.

Pelini reversed all that. He was seen as a Ogre on the sidelines and an a-hole.

At Nebraska you can't berate the officials NON-STOP all game long on National TV.

Oh and then he called out the fans - I mean really, calling out Nebraska fans for booing his boorish behavior is one of the lamest things you can do. Nah, Bo...they should have applauded your embarrasing antics on the sideline.

I really don't know. It's what I was told when I made the comment "why in the hell did Nebraska get rid of Pelini" to a friend of mine who is an Nebraska alum.

Props to Carl Pelini. He was 20+ years older than her.

You can't be a dick. He was a dick. The difference between him and the Meyer/Sabans of the world (besides the championships) is that Urban and Nick have enough common freaking sense to not be a dick in public.

A. We're not talking about most schools

B. At those places, there's something wrong with settling for 9-3

Pelini was an arse, but his firing was a hit job by the administration and media. His infamous rant about some of the fans was leaked to the media by someone Bo trusted who recorded their private conversation. I'd wager every coach makes private remarks critical of other coaches, admins, fans etc every year
