NL GM: I'd rather build a team around Adam Jones than Mike Trout

This was said from an NL GM in the Cactus League.
LINK
so it means one of these guys said it:
1. Dave Stewart-----DBACKS
2. Jed Hoyer--------CUBS
3. Walt Jocketty----REDS
4. Jeff Bridich-----ROCKIES
5. Farhan Zaidi-----DODGERS
6. Doug Melvin------BREWERS
7. A.J. Preller-----PADRES
8. Brian Sabean-----GIANTS
Who's the ruhtard?
My money is either on Stewart because of race or Bridich because this sounds like a typical tarded Rockies Front office thing to believe.

I'm just going to assume he named the wrong league and it was Reuben Amaro.

My first thought too until I read cactus league.

It's probably Stewart, unless Jones is an evangelist christian and Trout is Jewish or agnostic or something, then it might be the Rockies

A statement like this is grounds for termination, imo.

Exactly my thoughts.

THere are many things that could be used as grounds for termination with both Stewart and Bridich. Unfortunately, this statement probably isn't even at the top of the list.

I'm an ORIOLES fan and I don't even believe that. I mean, Not Pac-Man is great and all, but better than Trout? Are you insane?

I really feel for Rockies fans because it has everything set up to become an amazing baseball town- great park in a great neighborhood, good fanbase, enough market size that they could spend some money. They are stuck with Monfort though

I agree. I'm a huge Adam Jones fan, but come the frick on, right?
It has to be coming from an irrational place, which is why my money is on Stewart (race) or Bridich (Religion).

I'll go with Melvin. He was the GM at the time the Rangers gave A-Roid that large contract. He probably thinks Trout can financially handicap a team and no one player is really worth it in hindsight... imo.

Yup. They keep complaining about that park, but I think they can use it to their advantage.
They do have a great fanbase and a gorgeous stadium. Attendance really isn't an issue given how futile they've been.

I read that piece earlier. That was nonsense and hard to believe someone running a team actually believes that. I also don't get how Bryce Harper didn't get a vote, yet people who have never even taken a major league at-bat have. I think people forget how young Harper truly is.

If your GM is capable of having such a terrible opinion, that is scary for the future of your franchise.

I agree. I'd bet on Harper more than I would bet on Seager or any other minor leaguer. You never know when you have another Brandon Wood or Brandon Larson on your hands.
Hard to believe Harper is just now 22 years old.

If you're going to pick an Orioles player, at least go with Manny Machado who had a 6 WAR season at 20 and still has a lot of room to get better. Saying Jones is in the same league as Trout is just dumb.

I love Adam Jones but wow is that just plain stupid to say, especially out loud
