I wonder about Jocketty sometimes, but I really don't think he said that.

It's probably Stewart, unless Jones is an evangelist christian and Trout is Jewish or agnostic or something, then it might be the Rockies

They are stuck with Monfort though
and if they don't like it, maybe they don't deserve a franchise

Yeah it is what it is, he owns the team. It would be good for baseball if they got competent ownership and front office though because that town would go nuts if they were good

As an Oriole fan as well, I'm not even sure Jonesy is even the Oriole I would build around first. I think a fully healthy Manny Machado would get my nod there. To say you would build around AJ over Trout is laughable.

6 WAR season at 20

I mean, I like Machadao but this subjective WAR stat is fricking stupid and I believe it HIGHLY overrates defense.

Excuse me if I don't believe that Machado's .283/.314/.432 14 HR season is roughly equivalent to Goldschmidt's .302/.401/.551 36 HR season. Yes, I know defense matters, but I don't think it matters enough to make up that large a difference. Impressive as frick at 20 years old? Yes. Enough to make me a believer in WAR? frick no.

I mostly wouldn't want to build around Machado because he seems like a punk bitch

I agree. I like Machado but he seems like he is fragile as frick and not a very good leader.

I was making a joke about his comments to a fan in an email. He straight up said that

Even worse is that he pretty much hamstrings the GMs and forces them to do what he wants. He's like the Jerry Jones of MLB but just won't admit it like Jerry does. There's a reason Dan O'Dowd had US supreme court justice job security in Colorado. He's a yes man.

Case in point. The Rox found a taker for the oft-injured 33 yr old Jorge De La Rosa and his 2 yr/25 Million contract. It was the Orioles and it was for young pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez who went on to strike out 39 batters while posting an 0.96 ERA in 37? innings for Double-A Portland after the trade was nixed by Monfort and the Red Sox made a deal instead for him.

Monfort's reasoning? De La Rosa pitches well at Coors.
