Tonight against the Dodgers. Great career milestone to join 2,000 hit marker. Congrats Nick.

It's lowkey impressive considering his first season was 2006.

He could be the first guy to get to 3,000 and not make the HOF

I was gonna stay A-Rod and Palmeiro but that's not the point of my post.

The first non-cheater guy

He's already 33, and will be 34 before next year starts; he's had 1 season of over 180 hits in the last 6 years.

Realistically, he's going to have to play past 40 to have any shot. That seems unlikely, at best, to happen.

Regardless, I think 3,000 hits is an automatic ticket to cooperstown as long as you aren't a scumbag.

I don't see any way he gets to 3000

150 hits a season for the next 7 years puts him passed 3,000

In Markakis' third season, he hit 20 HRs, batter over .300, walked 99 times and led the American League in WAR. He never reached those heights again and I don't understand it. He was fairly healthy and there was no noticeable decline in his physical skills besides speed yet he just could never replicate what he was able to do during the early part of his career. His power steadily declined after his third season and he became a Punch and Judy hitter. It was puzzling to witness to say the least.

If he keeps the pace up he'll have Biggio type numbers

Wow. That's definitively under the radar.

I had no idea. I wish my team would have signed him instead of trading for Heyward.
