This makes me miss it's former neighbor, Old Orchard. That was a fun course and a great course for tournaments.
I used to play with my dad in Fred Couples and Jim Nantz's charity tournament out there.

Blackhorse is my favorite but kinda far from the city. I would say Wildcat for proximity purposes. It was always one of my favorite public courses
Edit: just saw energy corridor. Blackhorse, cypress lakes, or one of the kingwood courses

Don't play anywhere but River Oaks...sorry I can't help.
1st thing on my agenda when I get to Houston is find someone who is a member there.

Anyone played Sweetwater CC in Sugar Land?
Looks pretty nice when I drive through there.

I played sweetwater about 6 years ago. It's nice but not worth the drive unless you live nearby

The Golf Club of Houston's Tournament Course is where the Shell Houston Open is played.
That's all I got.

The only places I ever played in Houston were the TPC at The Woodlands and Lochinvar Golf Club. No women are permitted at Lochinvar.

No problem
It could have improved, I just think there are a lot better courses in the city. Playing HGA I had the luxury of playing at the nicest courses in town for $20-$30

Kingwood would be my vote for a large tournament. They host the Houston Pipeliners Association every year and fill all 4 courses.

What's Houston Oaks like now? I know they had a lot of work done out there and pushing to host events. They've fancied up the club and all but not sure about the courses.
They redid the clubhouse and practice area which is really nice. It's just such a short course, depending on what type of money they could spend i'm sure Houston Oaks would be pretty overpriced, but would have a area to have areas for after the tournament. They have the grounds and the ponds looking good.

Kingwood is a great place to host a tournament, especially now after the clubhouse renovations. That's probably the best option IMO.
