NFL rejected La'el Collins' request to be removed from draft until police complete murder investigation, per source. No supp draft for him.

Expected result based on CBA/potential precedent. Am told agents and player made impassioned case, though.

Gonna be sad if an incident that is not even related to him costs him dearly in where he goes.

If the guy is innocent I feel absolutely horrible for him. What a horrible situation

If this dude had nothing to do with it (and I don't think he did), where the frick is he? Where is his team?

They should be waging a PR battle right now.

It would be wrong to let him withdraw is name from the draft. sucks for him but it would open up pandoras box if you start allowing that happen.

Cheap labor is a lot more desirable to NFL owners than 1st round draft picks...the cheaper you can get a great player the better...if he's innocent of course.

Why do you think he had nothing to do with it?

Because there is nothing at all to indicate that he did.

Jesus.

You realize it's a slotted pay system, right? in essence, you're arguing that they are letting Collins slide so they can pay every single player who would have been picked after him just a tad more.

I don't really understand this line of thinking. You're talking about making an exception for a guy who was linked to a murder investigation two days before the draft. Not exactly a common occurrence.

It's not like Ray who was caught red handed doing something illegal the week of the draft. If Collins is cleared, congrats the kid just got fricked out of a bunch of money. If he's not cleared he won't be playing in the NFL for some time anyway.
