The NFL rule on automatic ejections for egregious hits to the head was approved. Sounds like the competition committee expected this

I hate that rule.

It's too tough for refs to call in real time, and it slows down the game if they go to replay to view it.

If you really need that rule, suspend them for the following game, so it's done outside of the scope of the actual game being played.

It's an abomination on the college level. Completely changes the outcomes of games and there's ZERO consistency

Pussy shite. The speed the game moves at is insane. There will be some obvious hits, but also some unavoidable contact that will no doubt result in some questionable ejections

The old-timers suing has really put the game in this weird spot where we go overboard with protection to the point where the game is changed. I think some of the rules are great, but the ejection mid-game for a hit has proven too hard to administrate. If there's one thing we need more of, it is stoppages and conferences to administrate the over-wrought rules of the NFL. What other player safety measures will be instituted to "protect" the player that knows of the risk he's taking.

Why the frick can't they just kick the player out temporarily, review it using the booth official or from a remote location, then decide if the player stays or gets tossed?

While I agree its better than what they decided on, the issue with this, in their eyes, is that players will not care about being suspended the next game if the current one they're in is far more important i.e. divisional game, rival, etc.

This would be best IMO.

Also would be awesome as a fan to have a star player get ejected, only to later be vindicated, and strut out of the tunnel onto the field to the sound of the stadium exploding in cheers.

Like Shane Falco coming out for the second half

I feel like the Saints will have someone ejected every other game or so

This. NFL ratings are already declining and these rules aren't helping. Maybe if some of these guys actually saved and invested their money instead of going bankrupt, they wouldn't have to sue when they're older.

Can't you make the same argument to say if they're playing a less important game, then they're less likely to care and more likely to commit the infraction and get kicked out of the current game?

Nah. Let the guy keep playing while they review. If they hold him out while reviewing he gets penalized for doing nothing wrong.

the worst part of this is how only the defensive player gets penalized when often it's the offensive player that creates the helmet-to-helmet hits these days. offensive players should be penalized for lowering their helmet into the path of the defender's helmet
