Other than money which the Russian isn't worried about, I don't see how this is a bad trade for the Nets. Pierce is a hugh upgrade over Wallce scoring wise a when JJ disappears, and Garnett will be able to cover up some of Lopez's deficiencies on defense.

I honestly think they might be really good. The problem with Boston I believe was them having KG play center. With the Nets he can move back to power forward. With him not having to bang around as much, we might see a resurgence in his offensive numbers.

KG is obviously better than Hump at the 4, so that goes without saying. Evans is still there to play against the second unit as needed.

I'm wondering whether Crash's problems will persist in Boston or if Pierce's age catches up to him in Brooklyn.

I'm also wondering if the loss of Brooks as a likely side-deal to this hurts as well, even if they're picking up a veteran point to backstop Deron.

I'm also wondering how badly losing a bunch of picks will hamstring Brooklyn since Pierce and Garnett are a two-season fix at best. Within two seasons, both probably retire and the Nets are left trying to fill major minutes with a payroll that is already north of $67m guaranteed for just Lopez, Deron, Johnson, Teletovic, and Evans.

Won't help that much... Brooklyn traded Atlanta the rights to switch 1sts with them.

That means the value of the pick is not wonderful because, even if the Nets suck, the Hawks also have to suck to really cash in on it.

Celtics, Nets deal has reached ownership level, league source tells Y! Jason Terry joins Pierce and Garnett in package, source says.

Wow. They literally are gonna swap rosters.

This is what the Clippers-Celtics would've done had Stern not spoke out against players and coaches being swapped.

DA is simply acquiring picks and assets that he can flip later. He has done this before when he got Allen and KG.

Also from the rumor mill, that if BOS-BKN trade does through, then they will try excute a sign-and-trade with Atlanta for Josh Smith if Danny Ferry approves it (if Houston get D12, they might be also want a SNT for Smith).

Movable pieces from each side-

Brooklyn-

Humphries ($12m)
Wallace ($10m, 3 years)
Teletovic ($3m, 2 years)
Reggie Evans ($1.7m, 2 years)
Marshon Brooks ($1.2m, team option and QO remaining)
Tornike Shengelia ($800K)
Tyshawn Taylor ($800k)
2013 1st round pick, late 20s

Boston-

Garnett ($11.5m, 2 seasons)
Pierce ($15m)
Jason Terry ($5m, 2 seasons)

Terry, Garnett, and Pierce is $31.5m in salaries, give or take.

Brooklyn will have to send back Hump ($12m), Wallace ($10m), and at least an additional $6m if the trade rules regarding 90% to 110% of salaries is in effect.

Not confirmed yet but likely.

That trade also likely brings in a backup point such as Luke Ridenour.

this refers to #18 right. i think 18 & 19 were just picks brooklyn acquired in some previous deals.

brooklyn owns its slotted pick due to playoff finish. #22

I'm talking about future drafts, specifically 2014 and 2015.

Per RealGM's future draft info page-

quote:

2014 first round draft pick to Atlanta
Atlanta has the right to swap its 2014 1st round pick for Brooklyn's 2014 1st round pick [Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012]

2015 first round draft pick to Atlanta
Atlanta has the right to swap its 2015 1st round pick for Brooklyn's 2015 1st round pick [Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012]

I am shocked they have space with all of those contracts (Lopez, Williams, JJ's anchor or a contract).
