What the Patriots scouts observed about Manziel’s work ethic and character now seems to be playing out in a very real way. A few notable quotes from the document worth revisiting: From the vibe of online articles, father seems a little too involved and overstepping his boundaries. Vibeon this guy keeps getting worse. Support staff members are sick of him and ready for him to go. Described as a cocky, me-guy. Loves football, FBI is high as well. Everything has been pretty well-documented in online articles about the kid, but sources say he’s a spoiled brat (grandfather gives him allowance, father bought him luxury car). Comes from ‘outlaw bloodlines’, mom moved the family to Kerrville to get away from father’s wild family. Father’s family is said to be very shady people, always into something, they are the root of Johnny’s personality. Doesn’t study the game, said to know about 60% of the offense in ’12, never watches film; one source said only time he watched film during ’12 was before ALUN. Teammates don’t dislike him, but there’s some resentment, more so in the offseason when he isn’t coming to workouts and they are busting their butt. Reading it two years later is almost surreal considering everything that has happened:

Pats are so good at weeding out the bullshite, it's amazing

Hasn't this been publicly available for a while now?
I'm fairly certain the only people in America who didn't feel this way were the people in the front office of the Browns.

That's why the Pats are the best franchise in the league, tbh.
That was amazingly spot on.

Actually, most people feel that the front office of the Browns had Manziel forced on him which helped lead to some of the tension between Manziel and the staff.
So the only people that might have wanted Manziel was the homeless guy that told Haslam to draft him and then Haslam.

After all, the Browns reportedly spent $100,000 for an analytics study that told them Teddy Bridgewater was the best quarterback in this year’s draft. And they didn’t take Bridgewater.

i think many of us regular joes could have written that while he was in college..

I thought these "scouting reports" were all fake. Or what?

Crazy that it leaked, if legit. Patriots scouts don't assign round grades, just first day starter, starter, contributor, and fringe iIrc.

Mrs Crown knows the Tyler folks and agrees 100%

Yeah. Nothing that wasn't said when he was in college.

Hey man! That says more about Urban's sweeping ability than the Pats sleuthing ability

That wasn't amazing. That was obvious to anyone in football with a pulse. Why do you think so many teams passed on him, including Cleveland with their first pick? I'd bet there are 30 other scouting reports out there on him exactly like that, except for the Cowboys'.

The nailed Aaron Hernandez
A late 4th round pick, who was picked to be the #2 tight end on the team, got them 18 Tds and 2000 yards in the 3 years he played for New England. I'd say nailed the pick.

A late 4th round pick,
quote:oh well then a lot of teams nailed it before their players went to jail... Panthers nailed Greg Hardy, Panthers nailed Rae Carruth because he gave them a couple of productive years, Buffalo nailed Travis Henry, Rams nailed Leonard Little, etc.... etc.... etc....
ot them 18 Tds and 2000 yards in the 3 years he played for New England
It got them a Super Bowl right?

They didn't win a SB with Hernandez.

The Pats are good because Brady is an amazing QB and Bill is the GOAT headcoach. Bill isn't as good as Ozzie Newsome or Ted Thompson, he just makes sure they have tons of picks because the draft is a game of chance.

I know they didn't... I was being sarcastic...
Yes the Pats scouting report was right on Manziel but obviously wrong on other players. They do not get it right most of the time like people believe. They have a decent amount of players fall out. They've had a great QB who they picked up and then had the advantage of putting quality players around him through the draft and FA. Look at the Steelers and Green Bay they've had a lot of success over last 10-15 years as well because of solid QB play which hides a lot of other areas that a team sucks.
