NCAA release
will be 4 10:00 quarters instead of 2 20:00 halves

since the NCAA either just lowered or is about to lower the MBB shot clock to 30 (which is where WBB has been forever)... got to wonder if this could be coming to MBB in the near future

It adds two commercial breaks for them to sell advertising. Anything the NCAA does is strictly for money.

Reduction in timeouts for televised games is a good step in the right direction. Very curious to see how this goes. I like it in theory.

Will it? I think it'll actually reduce the number of time outs from 4 to 3 each half...

Today:

8 media timeouts + halftime
5 timeouts per team (max 4 in second half)

Future:

4 media timeouts (1 per quarter)
2 timeouts (1st and 3rd quarter end)
Halftime
4 timeouts per team (max 3 in second half)

Also love going to 5 team fouls per quarter. One and one will be completely eliminated.

They could accomplish the same thing just changing media timeouts to 5 minute marks instead of 4 minute marks and leaving the halves.
It does add 2 more of those last possession situations...not sure if that's good or bad.
I do like the foul changes.

Men already tried that in November games years ago... it doesn't matter to me. 40 minutes is 40 minutes
