We love our NCAA don't we folks?

Braxton Beverly never imagined going to class could get him in trouble with the NCAA.
But after starting classes at Ohio State in May and transferring to N.C. State in July, the freshman guard will have to sit out the upcoming college basketball season.
Beverly and N.C. State had hoped he would be able to play right away after the unusual circumstances led to his departure from Ohio State. Buckeyes coach Thad Matta resigned on June 5.
Beverly, rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports, had already started classes at Ohio State at that point. Ohio State hired new coach Chris Holtmann four days later. Holtmann gave Beverly his release from his commitment.
By going to class, Beverly triggered NCAA undergraduate transfer rules. If he hadn’t started classes, like freshman guard Lavar Batts – who had originally committed to VCU – Beverly would not have had any issues with the NCAA.

Keatts and Beverly had hoped an appeal by Matta to the NCAA, would help Beverly’s case. Matta sent a letter to the NCAA on Beverly’s behalf.
“I’m devastated by this decision, it’s incredibly unfair,” Beverly said in a statement released by the school. “I appreciate N.C. State and the work being done here to appeal this decision. My hope is that it gets resolved and I can be eligible to play this season.”

The NCAA refuses to let common sense really take over. It's amazing.

Yes, student should refrain from enrolling in classes in case their coach that has been recruiting them for come to the school for years gets fired. It was gross negligence on the part of this kid to not consider this possibility before taking summer classes that began in May, 6 months before the college basketball season began. Ideally all students should defer enrollment until after the season begins, if not later to ensure their coach will not be on the hot seat early in the season after dropping a few games.
frick him being a smart little shite and actually trying to learn in college, amirite?

NC State getting punished for UNC's infraction jokes lasted about 2 hours before it came to fruition

Leaving a program high and dry can have consequences. He knew that and did it anyhow but is still crying about what he knew what would already happen.

But the coach granted him his release.

The NCAA’s ruling on Beverly is even more puzzling when you dig down into its transfer rules, which at first glance appear contradictory. While one rule states that a player is considered a transfer if he or she “attended a class or classes in any quarter or semester in which the student was enrolled in a minimum full-time program of studies,” another rule — 14.5.3.1 — says a student-athlete isn’t considered a transfer if he or she “has been enrolled in or attended classes only in a summer school,” which would seem to be the case here. Maybe the NCAA doesn’t consider Ohio State’s post-commencement classes to be “a summer school” but rather “regular school that is held in the summer”? If so, that’s peak NCAA silliness.

It's like you're completely ignoring all the extenuating circumstances in this case.
