Portland hasn't been good at all lately.

I mean I agree they are basically on even terms. They've blown each other out twice and played 2 super close games.

I just find the idea that them being on two different tiers laughable.

Golden State is in a tier of their own. The rest is sort of crap shoot. Dallas and OKC (w/Durant injury) in a tier of their own.

Dallas is hard to judge because how good Carlisle is in the playoffs.

I know, but I still think they will be good come playoff time. I probably should have grouped them with LA though. I wouldn't count them out.

What makes MEM clearly better than HOU?

In years past they had the defense to lock down most teams. NEWSFLASH bubba, HOUs defense is right there with em even though Dwight has missed basically half of the season.

Bench? Advantage HOU
Best player? Advantage HOU
Playoff experience? Eh you would say MEM but HOU has:

Harden: Finals appearance
D12: Finals appearance
Ariza: NBA Champ
Brewer: NBA Champ
Terry: NBA Champ

You can say Curry is better I guess? As far as team defense HOU has been up there all year long even w/out D12.

Honest question, who's starting at PG for the Rockets now? Terry?

Yep, and I am good with that. He's a good complement to James.

I think Curry is at least Harden's equal.

I give a slight edge to Curry, but Klay is better than anyone else on Houston's roster.

Like I seriously think we are underestimating how dominant they have been this season.

Terry has started since Bev has been out. 8-0 in games w Terry starting at PG. Terry won't be in games when they matter unless it's a situation where they're subbing offense for defense. Ariza can guard 1-4 so I feel pretty good about late game defense and that would be when Bev is missed most.

I'm not. They are far and away the favorite. I don't think anyone in the West matches up well with them.

I'm not. #1 in the league in both offense and defense...not sure when's the last time that's been done. Having Bogut healthy is almost as key to their success at the coaching change imo.

Curious why they don't start Brewer over Terry, is Terry handling the ball?

Also, how is Houston's defense better than Golden States?

ETA: misread your post about defense

Their home differential is up there with a couple of those MJ Bulls teams.

I didn't say HOU had a better defense that GSW. I think McHale wants to save Brewer as an energy guy coming off of the bench but I can see a Harden - Brewer - Ariza - Smith - Howard lineup finsihing games in the playoffs.

That would be a pretty good defensive lineup, just keep the ball out of Smith's hands

Well in Portlands case, I reckon Aldridge was still missing games in April.

For WAS DJ Augustin was the Bulls best offensive threat...I mean come on.

And those teams only won 1st rd series. If MEM wins a 1st rd series and loses in the 2nd rd no one will say it was a good season. For both WAS and POR a 1st rd series win was a huge success.
